I never seriously considered that he would win in 2016, so maybe I am overcompensating for my former optimistic idiocy by thinking this, but right now it looks like yeah, he's gonna win again, assuming he's still alive (amphetamine and and booger sugar are tough on the ticker) and that they will animate him like the Soviets did Brezhnev. There is no economic or social policy that will appeal to his voters more than the white-hot racism the Republicans have on offer, and Democrats don't have enough of that. Tariffs have been skullfucking Wisconsin but Trump's still competitive? Guess it's not about that economic anxiety after all.

This is a great ad, goes for the jugular, hits the emotional hot spot. You may or may not recall my assertion that democrats are shit at messaging, propaganda, w/e you want to call it? I take this as confirmation of my argument. It took a bunch of non braindead republicans to come up with an ad that really hooks you right in. It's not completely fair in the sense that the virus isn't something trump was directly responsible for, but so what, the idea is to win. This is where you have to go to reach a big slice of our population.

It definitely triggered the snowflake in chief.

Dumbass gave the ad a lot of free publicity. (CNN, bleh, sorry)

It's not really a Streisand effect if you aren't trying to silence it, I guess, but maybe a corollary. But the Game of Thrones reference isn't quite right, either - Rump is easily as despicable as Tywin Lannister, but nowhere near as bright.

The article compares him to Tywin Lannister, but fails to consider the obvious matter of his fate.

I'm now assuming the president* will be shot on the (gold-plated, obviously) toilet. Possibly by a son. Probably while taking a Dump.

Joe Biden won me over some today for standing up for justice for a black man who was murdered by two racist Charles Bronson vigilante wannabe fuckwits back in February.

Joe Biden sent out a tweet saying: "The video is clear: Ahmaud Arbery was killed in cold blood. My heart goes out to his family, who deserve justice and deserve it now. It is time for a swift, full, and transparent investigation into his murder."

I've been reading stuff about Biden and Reade today.

What 74 Former Biden Staffers Think about Allegations

Quote:
The PBS NewsHour spoke with 74 former Biden staffers, of whom 62 were women, in order to get a broader picture of his behavior toward women over the course of his career, how they see the new allegation, and whether there was evidence of a larger pattern.

None of the people interviewed said that they had experienced sexual harassment, assault or misconduct by Biden. All said they never heard any rumors or allegations of Biden engaging in sexual misconduct, until the recent assault allegation made by Tara Reade. Former staffers said they believed Reade should be heard, and acknowledged that their experiences do not disprove her accusation.

and

Quote:
The interviews revealed previously unreported details about the Biden office when Reade worked there, such as an account that she lost her job because of her poor performance, not as retaliation for lodging complaints about sexual harassment, as Reade has said.

Other recollections from former staffers corroborated things she has described publicly, such as Biden’s use of the Senate gym and a supervisor admonishing her for dressing inappropriately.

Overall, the people who spoke to the NewsHour described largely positive and gratifying experiences working for Biden, painting a portrait of someone who was ahead of his time in empowering women in the workplace.

“The one thing about Joe Biden is, he is a man of the highest character and that’s why these accusations are so surreal and just can’t comport with the man I worked with,” said Marcia Lee Taylor, a senior policy advisor on the Judiciary Committee, where women held leading roles when Biden served as chairman.
on the whole, I felt the PBS story tries to be as fair as possible and not just attack Reade and defend Biden although it does largely defend Biden.

Quote:
Reade’s story has been corroborated publicly by three people who spoke with other news organizations, saying she told them in the past about the alleged assault. Despite numerous attempts to contact them via phone, email and through a lawyer, none of them responded or could be reached for comment on this story.
Make of this what you will, they don't have an obligation to be questioned by the media obviously and I do wonder what the article would have looked like if they had.

I then read a Politico article that did lots of research on Reade and it frankly makes me feel squeamish. I hate that it is basically an attack piece on Reade.

Politico Interviews Many People who dislike Reade and call her a liar.

Quote:
As part of an investigation into Reade’s allegations against Biden — charges that are already shaping the contours of his campaign against a president who has been accused of sexual assault and misconduct by multiple women — POLITICO interviewed more than a dozen people, many of whom interacted with Reade through her involvement in the animal-rescue community.

A number of those in close contact with Reade over the past 12 years, a period in which she went by the names Tara Reade, Tara McCabe or Alexandra McCabe, laid out a familiar pattern: Reade ingratiated herself, explained she was down on her luck and needed help, and eventually took advantage of their goodwill to extract money, skip rent payments or walk out on other bills.

The people quoted in this article provided copies of past emails, screenshots of Facebook Messenger or text exchanges with Reade, copies of billing invoices or court records detailing their grievances or correspondence. POLITICO also reviewed dozens of public records, including court documents, divorce filings and Reade’s 2012 bankruptcy records.
Reade's attorney says

Quote:
“If the assertion is that someone who has lied to their landlord because they don’t have the money to pay rent so then they lied about a sexual assault, I don’t think that is fair journalism,” Wigdor said in an interview.
and frankly, I agree, but when you have a bunch of reports of this type of behavior and similar

Quote:
Biden was a common theme with Reade, many of those interviewed for this story said. Five of her acquaintances have specific recollections where Reade spoke in positive terms about Biden, as recently as 2018, one year before she lodged an initial charge against Biden that he had sexually harassed her. (In 2020, Reade offered new details, claiming that Biden sexually assaulted her in a Senate hallway.)

According to their accounts, Reade proactively brought up the former vice president’s name, pointing to her time in his Senate office as a high point in her career. Those interviewed said they were under the impression that Reade spent years in his office or had played a role in helping write landmark legislation, though she actually served in a junior level position for less than a year.

“She presented it as ‘I can get my life together, I worked for Joe Biden. I had a really high-level job. I have that capacity.” Wrye said. “I’m a psychologist and she confided with me in a lot of things, but not that. She never talked about the sexual assault, period, or anything inappropriate with him.”

It's not a great look.

 I think they are worth the read if you have the stomach for it.

there was this bit of corroboration

Quote:
A former neighbor, however, told Business Insider that Reade spoke of the assault in the mid-1990s. A work colleague from around the same time told the publication that Reade complained to her of sexual harassment in Biden’s office. A document filed by Reade’s ex-husband in 1996 also states that Reade had complained of harassment.
and

Quote:
Reade called Klett in 2019 after first publicly lodging allegations that Biden inappropriately touched her. At the time, Reade did not share details of an assault.

“I felt two things when she contacted me: that she was feeling me out to see if I would represent her pro bono. And there was a sense that she was trying to plant a story with me, so she could later say: ‘I told the story to this attorney I worked with,’” Klett said.

“I support women who have been assaulted. Unfortunately, I cannot support Tara Reade,” she said. “When she first contacted me regarding this issue, she could not provide enough credible information. And since that time the story has evolved in the media. I question her motives.”
 I think they are worth the read if you have the stomach for it.

That second photo is clearly Photoshopped.

His relationship with Ivanka is still creepy though.

I know and I don't really care. The democrats had better get their ass in gear. So far the heaviest hitters are the Lincoln Project. They can't get it done without help. The republicans are not going to give a single fuck about what's ethical. When they go low etc. didn't work. I really think this will be brutal. I fully expect Barr to comment on ongoing investigations leading up to and just prior to the election, al a Comey, and every other dirty trick they can dream up. We won't have legions of Russian trolls on our side.

I'm ripping somebody off here, I think from a long ago democratic campaign.

"We'd better stop worrying about what they're going to do to us and start worrying about what we're going to do to them."

Idk, its the liberal areas that are pushing the lock-downs and destroying the economies in their States.

Could be the libs are flipping their own base against the party.

Lifelong libs in New York for example will not be blaming Trump for the Governor preventing them from feeding their family.

These are upper-middle class people, 'rich' their whole life, they are not dumb people, now having a difficult time feeding their people, they do know the culprit.

Party loyalty only goes as far as comfort.

This election will be a Trump landslip. Its an overplayed hand.

I liked him when he told the story about the black guy he threatened to take a tire chain to.

Soo tough, he was willing to beat a black man with a deadly weapon to save his pride. Can't have those darkies talking shit about you.

I'm not familiar with that story, but it ain't surprising to anyone at all familiar with you that you would like such a story. I mean assuming that what you say is at all true.

The story is basically this:

Joe Biden was a lifeguard at the public pool in Wilmington, and they had a rule about not getting in the pool without a bathing cap if you had products in your hair or something like that, and this guy named Corn Pop wasn't following the rules, and Joe Biden told him to get out of the pool and made some mocking remark about him at the same time. Corn Pop then threatened to beat up or cut Biden after his shift was over (armed with a knife), and Biden, instead of calling the police, armed himself with a chain to meet the guy after his shift.

Then he apologized for mocking Corn Pop, but not for forcing him to follow the rules, and Corn Pop accepted this apology, and they avoided any violence.

What a damning story, indeed.

Initially, some people were incredulous of Biden's story, and supporters of a certain presidential candidate decided to just run with the claim that the name "Corn Pop" was a racist embellishment Biden added to his story, or that the story was a complete fabrication with the nickname being the element that shows how unbelievable it was. Except, it turns out, that there was, in fact, a guy in Wilmington who went by the nickname Corn Pop - so much so that he was referred to by that nickname in his newspaper obituary decades later, which was uncovered by reporters. So... so much for that.
