You IDIOTS. A polarized tachyon burst from the main deflector is the ONLY way.

Well, I'd have to get in the biofilter bus and patch in a molecular matrix reader. That's no problem. But the wave form modulator would be overloaded without the regeneration limiter in the first aid circuit.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Somewhat randomly had a video of James Doohan get recommended on youtube, it was a sweet story.
This had me look up his wiki page as I knew he was Canadian but wondered if he had Scottish parents. He doesn't, they were from Northern Ireland.
Then I was reading about his time in the war:
Quote:
He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the 14th Field Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. He was sent to England in 1940 for training. He first saw combat landing at Juno Beach on D-Day. Shooting two snipers, Doohan led his men to higher ground through a field of anti-tank mines, where they took defensive positions for the night.
|
He was shot 6 times by a fellow Canadian
Quote:
Crossing between command posts at 11:30 that night, Doohan was hit by six rounds fired from a Bren Gun by a nervous Canadian sentry:[2] four in his leg, one in the chest, and one through his right middle finger. The bullet to his chest was stopped by a silver cigarette case given to him by his brother.[7]
His right middle finger had to be amputated, something he would conceal on-screen during most of his career as an actor
|
Wait, what?! I cannot believe I never noticed this or knew about it in any way.
Crazy.
Some great stuff on that page, he was quite the guy.
Quote:
Doohan was once labelled the "craziest pilot in the Canadian Air Force". In the late spring of 1945, on Salisbury Plain north of RAF Andover, he slalomed a plane between telegraph poles "to prove it could be done"—earning himself a serious reprimand

Re: Star Trek is awesome
I recently started rewatching DS9 for the first time in years. This morning I got to Duet (Season 1, Episode 19). Big ups to actor Harris Yulin for producing these scenes:
Posing as Gul Darhe'el, the Butcher of Gallitep . . .
And confessing his true identity . . .

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Well, last night's Star Trek Day celebration was a bit disappointing. Too much red carpet chatter when I wanted more panels. (It's a worknight; I need my sleep!)
Also, too much focus on the orchestra performing the Star Trek themes instead of showing actual scenes from the shows that were playing right behind them!
Ugh

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Well, Paramount pulled Discovery from Netflix a day before Series 4 was about to start. Internationally it'll be available on Paramount+ which they will roll out internationally next year. Fuck you Paramount.
Do you know where it's available right now, Paramount?
