Since I cant find the Uber thread,
Libertarian poster child, Uber, who's creator is masturbates to Ayn Rand (probably) has
never made a profit and subsists on the good will and wellfare from the rich. Uber's bootstraps costs investors $2 billion a year with no profit in sight.
Uber Is Doomed
Well worth the read.

Salmiakki
My mom likes licorice, including saltlakrits/salmiakki. I guess she doesn't find much of that in the US tho.

Re: Miscellany
Licorice is big here too. When I grew up they also sold licorice root (called zoethout or sweetwood in Dutch). They still sell it here and there.

Re: Miscellany
So, one of my high school classmates won the Best Picture Oscar for producing Moonlight . That's cool. Good for her. (The Oscar is awarded to the producers of the film - in this case, there were three of them.)
(A graduate a few years older than us wrote a children's novel that was later adapted by Tim Burton, which is also pretty cool.)
It actually feels kind of surreal to know that one of my classmates won an Oscar. Like, just doesn't feel possible. Particularly since her film will now forever be the answer to a future trivia question because of the fuckup regarding the announcement of the award, and I guess her acceptance speech will be immortalised because of that too. This also makes me feel like I've seriously wasted my life, but that's another story... (Then again, I also gather she's one of the youngest people ever to win the award, so I'm probably judging myself by an impossibly high standard.)
