I think the song is from Janwar. The singer is most definitely Shammi Kapoor, the Indian Elvis.

Wow! Someone just posted the Contact/Echoes sync yesterday.

I have a hypothesis about this sync. I think it's deliberate. Obviously Pink Floyd couldn't have had any clue about the film Contact, but I think that Robert Zemeckis certainly knew about 2001: A Space Odyssey (perhaps he'd even heard about the synch) and that he paid homage to it in Contact, and the synchronization is a byproduct of that.

So my family has been telling me that my cousin, Amber, has a beautiful singing voice. Now I have been presented with proof and it's on YouTube.

Warning: This is very Christian-centric--some flavor of Baptist, I think--as it was recorded at some church conference thing where she performed. So if watching a bunch of swaying and hand-waving bothers you, just open it in another tab and let it play while you do other things.

I have to agree that she has a nice voice. I'm told that she wrote the song she's singing but I don't know that for sure.



And now this is the part where I lie and tell you that my singing voice is just as even more beautiful.
