Exposing is a hoax is just that, exposing a hoax.

Of course, none of these agitations lead to any meaningful change. So much of Peanuts is characters following their passions and meeting disappointment, only to pick themselves up and try again. But these issues are always portrayed as principles worth fighting for, despite the outcome.

That sense of malaise is spreading across D.C. As women stare up at that glass ceiling still hanging over them and contend with a pussy-grabbing kleptocrat moving into the nearby White House, they are collectively — however subconsciously — making their own statements of rebellion by challenging traditional notions of beauty. Just ask any hairstylist in the Beltway.

Over at Georgetown Salon & Spa, one of the most exclusive salons in D.C., much-sought-after colorist and stylist Mariangela Moore has witnessed this “take control” movement daily for the past month. “One of my clients said, ‘Think of Melania Trump and go in the opposite direction,’” she says.

It's even worse than you probably think it is. Expect a lot more of these now that Republicans control the three branches of government at the national level.

More reasons libertarian Bro-ber sucks. 400 Bad Request (no youre a bad request! Link still works.)
The short, HR lied to defend a serial sexual harasser and the woman engineer was docked and threatened with being fired for going to HR. Uber's engineers went from 25% women to 3% in only a year or so.
Ties together with a lot of things: an excerpt from "The Girl in Green" by Derek B. Miller.
Quote:
"Let me tell you a story, my friend. In the thirteenth century, a Spanish scholar named Don Juan Manuel referred to his country's occupation by the Muslim Moors since AD 711 as the guerra fria. The Cold War. It was not a war of swords but of ideas. We are still in this war. But we are winning it, no matter the momentary gains of these ISIL people. You know why? Because they are surrounded by ideas they cannot fight, because they are ideas they cannot answer. On one side [of them] are the real teachings of the Prophet—love, kindness, tolerance. And on the other are Western ideas so deep, so significant, we don't even notice them. They are the air we now breathe. And the most significant of these ideas? Romantic love. It is the most disruptive and transformative power in the history of the world. Terrorists are powerless against it. We support love, and they will lose."
"That is dreamy bullshit"
"No, no. Consider it. Think of Romeo and Juliet. 'Two houses, both alike in dignity', we are first told. Why? Because the houses are the power, and dignity is the currency of that realm. We need to know this so we can understand that what keeps the lovers apart is not a higher justice but a higher power. And then here come these two children who defy and disrupt the underlying social order, and who die for their efforts because their humanity cannot survive in concert with that world. The moment Shakespeare makes our sympathies go to them, the system is overturned. Personal love is very disruptive to tribal thinking. And what of Juliet? A young woman? Romantic love empowered her to be equal to a man, to choose her own destiny, to make her own choices, to be in absolute control over her own body and her own heart. It is the first truly feminist story. It validated love, and fueled a revolution.
"These people, this ISIL, we should fight them, yes. We can bomb them, yes. But that's not a strategy for victory. This is a guerra fria. Victory lies in replacing their social order, which is why they are afraid, and they should be. And our secret weapon? It is not drones. Quite the opposite. It is women. We should free them, educate them, give them power—put a Juliet in every village. They will change the world. This is why Boko Haram is so afraid of the girls and abducts them, why the Taliban will not educate them, why ISIL murders those in Western clothes and who think freely. Women. They are how the West will win. They are how love will prevail."
"You are so relentlessly French."
"Thank you."

Worth an extra quote.
But sadly, one of the things this ties together with is that the West isn't doing this very well. Education is being ground into the dirt and advances in women's rights are being reversed. In many countries. This guerra fria is being waged within the West as well, and victory is not certain.

Over the past month, when you include the Emergency Room physicians, the General Practitioner, the Nephrologist, etc., I've been seen and examined by 6 different physicians. Every one of them was male. Virtually all of the nurses who've taken blood pressure, etc. were female. One of the students who sat in on the examinations was female.
I was thinking about that this morning, and wondering if female physicians are really that rare in this part of the country. Or, do you suppose, was I deliberately assigned male physicians over female physicians, on the assumption that I -- a male -- would be uncomfortable being examined/treated by a woman?
Because actually, the opposite is kind of true. My experience over the past month or so has left me wondering: "Where are all the female physicians?".

The bill states "injunctive relief to prevent a physician from performing abortions" may be obtained "by a parent or guardian of the woman if the woman is less than eighteen years of age or unmarried at the time the abortion was performed or attempted to be performed."
Said injunctive relief may also be obtained by the husbands of married women, of course. Musn't let marriage be a loophole allowing women to determine the fate of their uterii.
The NYT article Wemple refers to is well worth reading in its entirety as well.

Update: O’Reilly has apparently announced he will be taking a sudden vacation starting tomorrow and lasting until April 24, but it’s rumoured that he won’t be returning at all. It’s being widely reported that James Murdoch wants him out. Given the rush of advertisers away from his show, that seems like a realistic possibility now. Let’s hope.
