Re: Stuff about the GOP President wannabes
Newt Gingrich converted to Catholicism with his current marriage, significantly restricting his divorce options.

I'm pretty sure the Catholic divorce rate is about the same as the non-Catholic divorce rate. And a Catholic marriage is no barrier to philandery, just ask anyone banged by a Kennedy.

Gingrich Compares Virginia Ballot Fiasco to Pearl Harbor - Fox News
Quote:
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich stepped into controversy Christmas weekend as he compared his exclusion from the Virginia primary ballot to the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
“Newt and I agreed that the analogy is December 1941: We have experienced an unexpected setback, but we will re-group and re-focus with increased determination, commitment and positive action,” Campaign Director Michael Krull wrote on Gingrich’s official Facebook page on Saturday.

True. However, Jellyroll Troll's claim was that Newt's religion allows him to divorce too many women. This is incorrect. The failure to prevent is not the same thing as allowing. Newt's current religion does, however, allow him to pretend that a marriage never actually took place.

Re: Stuff about the GOP President wannabes
The debt is projected to fall within $100 billion of the current cap by December 30, when the United States has $82 billion in interest on its debt and payments such as Social Security coming due. President Barack Obama is expected to ask for authority to increase the borrowing limit by $1.2 trillion, part of the spending authority that was negotiated between Congress and the White House this summer.
The debt limit currently stands at $15.194 trillion and would increase to $16.394 trillion with the request.

Re: Stuff about the GOP President wannabes
Thanks to a $374,000 taxpayer-funded grant, we now know that inhaling lemon and lavender scents doesn't do a lot for our ability to heal a wound.
With $666,000 in federal research money, scientists examined whether distant prayer could heal AIDS. It could not.
To study whether squirting brewed coffee into someone's intestines can help treat pancreatic cancer (a $406,000 grant) and whether massage makes people with advanced cancer feel better ($1.25 million).
The coffee enemas did not help.
The massage did.

Under Obama, an emerging global apparatus for drone killing - The Washington Post
The US drone program is the subject of an exposé published in the Washington Post on Wednesday, headlined “Under Obama, an emerging global apparatus of drone killing.” While restrained in its presentation, the Post article is a chilling account of a government that has asserted for itself the right to kill anyone, anywhere in the world, without even a pretense of legal proceedings. The lives of thousands of people have been wiped out in this manner.

Re: Stuff about the GOP President wannabes
Hey Jerome, that's a totally worthwhile article from which to start a conversation about the Obama Administration's huge increase in drone warfare, but then you should actually start a different thread about this, because the thread you're in now is entitled "Stuff about the GOP President wannabes". And last I checked, Obama isn't.
Here's an example of staying topical:
It is interesting to see teenagers' reactions, and also hear about their knowledge level (high or low) on the subject of politics and elections. Watch the whole thing, Jerome, one student endorses Ron Paul!
