Okay, there's a good chance we'll upgrade in the next six months. The biggest obstacle is that we no longer have access to the same expert, reliable, very inexpensive vBulletin coder who wrote our custom ignore features. So it's a dilemma. We could probably upgrade in two weeks, but we'd be sacrificing a big chunk of our existing features in order to introduce new ones.

Question Re: Software Feature Requests and Bug Reports

What happened to that coder? Did he leave the company?

He did that work for us on an independent basis, and I suspect he's just too busy with his job now.

Question Re: Software Feature Requests and Bug Reports

I see. Well hopefully his work schedule will become less hectic. What exactly needs to be done, by the way? I assume the extra ignore features are on that list of features that will need to be updated. Just make sure to keep the left side postbit. I do not like the anathema postbit at all.

Idea Re: Software Feature Requests and Bug Reports

 How about the standard smilies on the right of the "Reply to Thread" box have at least one line of random, regularly rotated, or featured smilies?

That way, liv could give her new smilies some air-time and users would become more familiar with a greater number of the smilies available.

 Also, would be interested in seeing the HTML tag when I hover over the smilie, so I can just look, remember what it is, and type it into my own messages, rather than have to engage in a search everytime I want to use something I know exists and/or have seen and liked on another post before.

(ie. ";chin;" instead of, or as well as, "Scratch Chin" for :chin: )

Ooh, I like it! In theory, though, we don't actually need a hack for that. I could do that using the ACP and the categories we have now. :chin:

Well, hovertext is a separate field from the smileytext. I could theoretically make them the same, but I do like having at least one descriptor not bound by the 8 character limit.

If you right-click on the smiley and click on properties, you'll see the smileytext in the "Alternate Text" field, though:

You do not see the alternate text on antiquated browsers like IE, though.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that wee wrinkle. All I can say is live in the now. Use Firefox.

But you can copy and paste the smilies to see the smileytext. At least you can in FireFox. I can't speak for IE.

Probably not. :cletus: Us folks using IE wouldn't wanna try somethin' that-thar fancy-like. It might mess us up and crash our cypherin' machines.

Guess I just have to do it the old fashioned way if I have time in-between my busy schedule of cursing God for sending the blight of IE upon the Earth and flailing myself with a willow branch everyday for not having got Firefox yet.
