Re: Pinterest, ladysplained.
I set up a Pinterest account for professional purposes, and it's all sad right now because I am still working out my focus and goal and stuff but it got a follower.
I usually check out followers to see if I can ascertain why they are stalking me and if they're worth stalking back, and this guy was following like tons of boards with the word "People" in the title (my board has "People" in the title). I thought that was a weird word to search for then follow based on, especially considering it was the only commonality.

People are people so why should it be they get accused of following Pinterest things?

Re: Pinterest, ladysplained.
I saw that.
I'm trying to get to where I can get a "like us on Facebook" QR code on our in-box flyers, and add it to the listings and email signature, and then link up the Facebook and pinterest with fan codes and specials and stuff. Not twitter cuz useless without pictures. But first I'm trying to get the URL we want from Facebook which no one is using but also it's not available.

Hey, what the hell? How did I unfollow you, Ensign Steve? I thought you'd just been being quiet or something, but I just now realized that I wasn't following you any more.
Did you do something weird, or did I just somehow accidentally hit unfollow?

I do weird things alla time, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I have been quiet, though.

I scroll down and something pops up saying, "Scroll to Top" so I do and nothing happens. Are you mocking me, software?

Re: Pinterest, ladysplained.
She is and it is totally an awesome idea for a blog. I didn't think of it first.
I have a new thing bugging me on there. I have been inundated with fake stuff. Lately my feed is full of wrongly attributed quotes, fake instructions with no semblance to reality, hoaxes passed along as real, and MY WORST PEEVE, product concepts that don't exist. God, I hate those.
I thought about making a board to try to nip those things in the bud. You know, if my followers see it there they might not repin the stupid and stop the game of telephone? I prolly would get a bunch of repins anyway, Also, with some of them I would feel mean, like I was all LOL look at you, gullible stupid person who pinned this before me! We are all laughing at you! Maybe if I just limited it to hoaxes to start with, so people wouldn't feel bad, and then branch out? Lord, I over think this stuff.

JUST SAY IT TO MY FACE, MONDE.
What's wrong with pinning product concepts? Yeah, I mean, you can't go buy one, but you can't really buy a $6000 shirt or whatever, either. Also, I can't buy Olympia!
God, you shopaholic.

I think I know what you mean about that kind of thing--EXCEPT YOUR BEEF WITH PRODUCT CONCEPTS I MEAN WTF. I see lots of things, mostly just when I go on the front page, that are really gross and stupid; and I don't want to just go up in some stranger's pins and start yelling at them.
I saw someone else addressing that by repinning the image with some "bullshit" text over it, so it's only passive aggressive. I've done that a couple of times when I've seen the same gross stuff too often.

Re: Pinterest, ladysplained.
lisa, I should have qualified. I LOVE your concept pins. I just about plotzed over the nail displays. There is a huge difference between your pins and what I am talking about though. You are always up front in your description that it IS a concept, or the link will go to a cool article about how the tech is developing. But that is not what drives me crazy.
My peeve is when people pin an existing product with a description that is not real. This one is the biggest from last week:
"OMG! Color changeing bath matt! Water make it turn from white to bloody! I would so freak my husband over with this!!!!!!"
And then they pin to like a tumbler image or something.
So then I am curious, because I have never heard of a material with such properties. I look and look and finally have to just search for "bloody bath mat" until I find it has no semblance to reality. It is just printed that way. And yet hundreds of people have pinned and repinned this as fact.
The color picking pen is right up there too. Thankfully on that, I follow some awesome tech folks who let me know it was a concept design, BEFORE I started seeing everyone post it with nothing but WANT and a static picture with no webpage linked. Otherwise, I too would be all WANT and waste minutes looking for the darn thing.
There is even a website now that a few people I follow link to all the time, which is just a picture with an insanely impossible task for the thing to do and buttons on either side of the image that say: "I want that!" and "I don't want that!" I suppose its intent is market research, but it is more like cock tease research! I am pretty sure anyone can post any idea on there based on some of the insanity I have seen. Even if they did manage to bring something like that to market, I would have already been burned by that first encounter, not believe it and move on.
I can dig on concept designs, but please FULL DISCLOSURE PEOPLE, before I start drooling and throwing wads of cash at my monitor.

Re: Pinterest, ladysplained.
That concept posting thing to gauge market reactions is all the rage on accounta The Lean Startup...but many people are doing it wrong.
You're supposed to offer your "minimum viable product", not offer a concept without even a working model.
