I have a news headline about new attacks on london btu I can't find a story and for some reason my TV is not working .. I am just getting snow. Does anyone know what has happened?

Moose, I started a thread in News/Current events.

The latest is up to four explosions, but very small compared to two weeks ago. Possibly, detinators going off rather than the bombs.

Also a bag exploded on a number 23 bus in Hackney, blowing out the windows.

So far, only 1 injury at Warrent Street tube station reported.

I got my TV fixed as well .. am just watching coverage but it doesn't seem as bad as last time. it's gonna terrify people though

Here's the basic story from the AP:

Three London Underground stations were evacuated at midday Thursday following reports of incidents, British Transport Police said. The Fire Brigade was investigating a report of smoke at one station.

The Warren Street, Shepherds Bush and Oval stations were evacuated. Emergency services personnel were called to the stations, police said.

"People were panicking. But very fortunately the train was only 15 seconds from the station," witness Ivan McCracken told Sky news.

McCracken said he smelled smoke, and people were panicking and coming into his carriage.

Services on the Victoria and Northern lines were suspended following reports of a number of incidents, London Underground said.

Just on the news, armed police at at University College Hospital and have issued a memo to staff stating to phone the police if they see a man "6'2" of black or asian appearance, wearing a top with the back torn with wires poking out of it."

They have also just led a man away at gunpoint from Downing Street.

TV isn't saying much.. they were just broadcasting from Downing Street and then the police came up and told them to turn the cameras off, so they seem a bit scoobied.

This might sound callous, but given that it doesn't look very serious the thing I'm most worried about is how the hell I'm going to get home... I guess I might just have to spend a few hours in the pub until the buses start running again.

Yeah, doesn't look as if anyone's been killed or even seriously injured. It's just the panic factor .. the more often this sort of thing happens, the more havoc it causes.

Or it can go the other way around. After a while, explosions become something you kind of get used to, just like London in the IRA 80s or Italy in the Red Brigades 70s.

I think it's a good thing, really, as long as it doesn't spill over into a desentization to death and injury.

The trouble is that al Quaida is not the IRA, who by and large - even though they managed to kill lots of people - were going for effect and disruption and not mass deaths. I think though that if London got desensitised to this sort of thing, they'd just step it up a notch.

Of course, this one might have been nothing at all to do with al quada .. it seems a bit lame.

They would? So far Al Qaida seems to have opted for the tactical hit/big publicity kind of gigs. I really don't see them settling down and planting bombs every week like homegrown terrorists have done.

Well I didn't mean that quite .. i just meant that if people stop seeming all that bothered by this sort of thing, they might go for a 9/11 style huge impact thing. But then i have no idea how these peoples' minds work and I am more than happy about that
