Default Crock Pot

Mmm there's nothing better than sitting here perusing :ff: while being teased by the smell of the chicken in a pot slowly cooking to perfection that is seeping in from the kitchen.

I'm going to enjoy dinner tonight. :hungry:

So is there anyone else here who likes a good slow cooked crock pot meal? If so, what do you like to cook in them?

I don't have a crock pot but some of the best beef stews I've ever had were made in one. :hungry:

We use the crock pot to make beef stew, chicken noodles, chicken cacciatore, roast beast, BBQ pork ribs, pork chops, potato soup, corn chowder, chili and more. We have two crockpots, one the regular 4 quart round and a 6 quart oval. We have more than one crock for each, old crocks from past 4 quart crockpots and the 6 quart came with a two compartment crock as well as the standard crock.

I don't have a crock pot, but Warren's post is making me crave the hell out of one. My dad makes Boston baked beans in his and they are one of my favorite foods in the whole wide world.

Sadly, my crockpot exploded... but before this happened I would make stew, a whole chicken, chile and my favourite thing to make was a corn beef brisket with cabbage, onions carrots & potato :hungry:

Actually, we haven't had that in quite a while either.

Here's one recipe where they serve it over fettucine. We always had it over spaghetti. Or as I liked it served on a thick slice of bread.

Um... Yeah... No serving on pasta. That's an abomination. Bread (on the side, Warren, you sicko), otoh, is very much de rigeur. There's much cacciatore yummy to sop up.

We've had yummy cheap pot roast and veggies a couple of time, and RA cooks collard greens in the crock pot occasionally. YUM. We'll have to try chicken cacciatore. On noodles.

Oh, and spicy "boiled" peanuts too.

Okay, okay. Hmm... I think it was the difference in liv's and Warren's conception of how to serve chicken cacciatore that made me recall that scene from Pulp Fiction.

OK cool. Staying rigidly on the original topic is obviously something free thinkers will eschew. But we like to have some connection with some previous post in the thread, and now you've supplied it.

Another case for the thread police solved. Just think of the rambling on this board without them!
