New Year's Resolutions, anyone?
This is going to be the year I write it down. I want to get more organized, and writing stuff down instead of hoping I remember it will help me keep better tabs on everything.
And this year I will get back to my goal weight (writing it down is going to be part of that).
Anyone else have resolutions for this year?

Re: New Year's Resolutions, anyone?
Nope, although I do plan to put down a list of where I'd like to be this time next year. If I tell myself I'm gonna do something, I rarely ever do. If I give myself general guidelines I'm much more likely to accomplish them. Dunno why.

Re: New Year's Resolutions, anyone?
Oh yes - I have several:
- Stick to the healthy diet that lost me 20 pounds before life happened again
- Learn to play the piano: a while ago, I did a favor for a guy who sells second-hand furniture. In return he has promised me the next second-hand piano he comes across. I can't wait!
- Walk every day for one hour
- Climb a hill in every hilly area in the south of Ireland and take a picture
I may also try to learn how to paint watercolors, but that is more of a vague ambition that a resolution.

Re: New Year's Resolutions, anyone?
I never wait for New Years Day to resolve things. If I want to change something I will change it right then or never. At the beginning of December I decided to stop snacking after dinner. So far I've only slipped once, last Sunday when my Mom kept bringing food over to me while we were watching TV after dinner. She's a very bad influence.

Re: New Year's Resolutions, anyone?
Man, I don't know.
Last year was the first year I actually felt my age. Until then, I always felt like I was around 25. But, man, 45 has hit me like a freight train.
Stuff doesn't work the same anymore. Weird aches and pains from nowhere. Even my thinking has slowed.
So, if I had to make a resolution, it would be to do stuff that would slow down the rapid aging process I'm apparently going through. I probably should try to be more physically active, as well as more intellectually active. Like get on the treadmill or pick up a damn book once in a while.
But, shit, even as I write this, I want to lie down and take a nap.

I am planning to cut down on the number of times I tell this one joke about potato chips.
Apart from that, I'm golden.

Same here. In my case it's because I'm usually all "fuck you I won't do what you tell me!" in response to anyone telling me how to live; even myself. That said it's been ~15 years since I quit smoking, ~10 since I quit drinking and a few months that I've been managing my eating more effectively, so while I don't really do the 'resolution' thing, this year I'm thinking more in terms of what I can add to my life than what I need to subtract. So my 'soft' resolution for the year is to read more books. I read a lot of blogs/articles/etc on the interwebs, but probably haven't read 5 proper books in the past 10 years.
