we know something of your pain, in that we too, had a rescued dog who had a "history" and ultimately his fate was the same as your beloved pooch... but he sure as hell had a great four year run with us... and i miss buddy like no other dog before or since...

I'm sorry too, iruk. For about the first two years of this forum's life I was essentially a prisoner in my own home because the frequency and intensity of panic attacks made trips to the grocery store a white-knuckle event, so I can empathize a little bit. I hope it gets better for you.

I cannot be in a car when it is drizzling... the intermittent wipers make me want to kill myself... I do this "crying without crying" thing where tears just sheet down my cheeks...

which will eventually lead to real crying out of sheer frustration at having no control over what my brain wants to do...

I can't even imagine what you're going through now, but it sounds horrible, and I'm so sorry you're going through it.

For what it's worth, there are a lot of people here who care about you. If you ever want to get something off your chest, you don't have to be funny or engaging or pleasant or on-topic.

I love this place and the people who populate it... but I had to drop away because it became too intense, how brilliantly savvy and incisive and erudite the core of you are... it is a dream come true to be in the company of people who know and share so much...

but it is hard work too... you guys don't dick around... unless you are dicking around

and now I am doing the hardest work I have ever had to do (fucking shrinks call it "recovery") so I rarely even have the capacity to sit quietly and watch the fireworks... (that popcorn eating smilie here)

I care for you guys too and I wish this wasn't the story I had to tell... but there ya go, wish in one hand yada yada.....

Thanks all. We just got back from my mother in law's. She's floundering, because my father in law took care of everything. He gave her some money each week and took care of everything else. We spent two days gathering up bank statements, hunting up documents, putting papers in folders.

Next up - probate!

My dad had to learn to take care of his finances after my mom died, she had always taken care of that and he never worried about it. Maybe he should have.
