Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I keep my kitties indoors for my peace of mind - and theirs, I think. Once they were neutered, the really didn't care about outside.
Maybe Cupcake is just going to be tiny - both of my female kitties were little runty things, even though they were both healthy. I think being smaller makes them cuter.
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Yeah I am also liking the idea of an indoor cat, which is why I am not letting them roam. And being small and scruffy is really cute, especially since she is so affectionate and vocal.
So I'm getting the dogs ready for their walk, Zsa Zsa is already on her leash and I'm holding it while I'm putting Buddy's leash on, when I feel ZZ start pulling, so I'm like "Hey, quit it!" Then, I turn around, and Battlecat is all up in her shit while poor ZZ is cowering on the floor because she can't run (because of leash), while Battlecat is just straight up punching her in the face over and over and over like HAHAHA!
We're gonna have to take that cat off her arthritis medicine or something if she keeps up the escalation of violence. She's getting a little too spunky.

IN WHICH we discover that "Beauty Sleep" is a work-in-progress:

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
That is a lot of droopy cutishness.
In other news: despite the vet assuring me Cupcake was a girly-girl, (s)he has now sprouted a pair of testicles and was seen sporting a healthy erection. So now I am the proud owner of two male cats called Brownie and Cupcake.
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
The vet in my hometown made that same mistake. We found out the poor thing was actually male the day we brought him/her in to be spayed. We got home, and got a call from the vet telling us our kitty was, in fact, male.
I think the poor thing had major gender identity issues after that.
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Bob was not only misdiagnosed as a lady when he was a kitten, but he was additionally diagnosed as pregnant by someone who thought I'd waited on the spay too long. He was a very tiny runt, so I wanted to give him a couple of extra weeks before surgery, and him being an indoor cat, I didn't think the elderly spayed cat in the house was likely to impregnate him. That sure showed me!
He delivered two adorable, healthy testicle kittens shortly thereafter.
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
A member of our consulting team came to me, asking advice about adopting a dog for his family. As we talked, I was surprised at how knowledgeable I really am. "No puppies," I advised. "As first time dog owners (with three young children), you don't need to deal with housebreaking and teaching a dog's first crucial lessons. Adopt an older dog, preferably from someone who has to give one up because of changes in domicile."
We then discussed best breeds for stability and gentleness, while I cautioned that within breeds you also have to make allowances for the individual.

Daisy looks so long-suffering, I love it.
He still looks small to me! But maybe that is because he still demands to be picked up and huggled like a giant baby every time either one of us have been away for more than an hour or so.
I have uploaded a characteristic video of Molly to THE UTUBES.
Yes, this is the Molly that got herself infected by nibbling stitches. TASTY STITCHES.

Molly the cat is my new relaxation role model. I am not sure I've ever had such a satisfying 15 minutes of sleeping in my entire life.
AND in Pealock family news, Zsa Zsa just got her checkup, which she aced. She's getting a tooth cleaning next week, but it's mostly prophylactic just so they don't get bad. The interesting thing is that, when the vet was looking at her teeth, he said she has some anomalies that indicate she's probably got some working breed in her, which he guessed border collie. We had never thought of that, but in retrospect makes sense. She is crazy smart and really great at complicated tasks, which is what border collies are known for.
So my new theory is that Zsa Zsa is a perfect amalgam of all the best qualities everyone has ever tried to breed into any dog ever, which explains why she is the most beautiful, smartest, most agile, nicest, and overall best dog in the world.

She will go to AMAZING lengths to obtain that. If I close the door to my room, she will cry, claw at the door, and attempt to summon demons to whom she can sell someone else's soul (she's a CAT, remember) for passage to the Land Of Bed. Whereupon she jumps up, cries until I notice her, and then goes to sleep.
She'll sit there for 6-8 hours, stretching occasionally.

lisarea, can I borrow that for the next time I'm discussing conformation bias with someone?
