All right. You are making me do it.

Christmas Carol Time

O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree
How Lovely are your Branches....

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh

Play your drum for me

Don't make me continue. :fuming:

I thought my metal chickens had killed this thread. Die, muthafucka, die.

That's awesome. It's like an alternate chicken universe.

If there's a chicken that can end this, it's this one:

Bah, too modern. Now this is the One Chicken to Rule Them All (and kill the thread):

Still no live chickens. I rest my case, and the thread is done.

All of this chicken imagery reminds me of playing Doom waaaay back in my undergraduate days. I was sharing a dorm room with my friend Sherman (yes, the same Sherman that I'm having the "Chicken Butt" wars with), and we connected our computers together with a null-modem cable so that we could play deathmatch on Doom.

Well, there was a mod for Doom that replaced the rocket launcher with the shoulder-mounted chicken launcher (the same weapon damage-wise, but the crosshair is in the center, the weapon is mounted off to the right, and chickens fire out instead of rockets).

So, my favorite strategy was to lay real still and quiet....find a place to sit. When Sherman (or whomever I was battling) came within sight, I'd sneak up behind them. Now, all this time, there's very little actual noise being made...the occasional tapping of keys and some breathing.

But when I was behind my target and had a good shot, I'd scream out a shrill BUCK-OCK!!!!!!!! as I fired a chicken. They'd be so startled by the noise, that they wouldn't have time to turn around or do much of anything before being hit and splattered. :D

In Heretic you there was some kind of magical missile weapon that turned the other player into a chicken, who you could then blow up with a conventional weapon, producing a satisfying explosion of feathers. Of course in chicken form you could still scurry around and peck people (to death if you did it enough). This resulted in some hilarious gameplay because accomplished players could were quite adept at running around your legs in this disadvantaged state avoiding your subsequent shots and pecking you slowly to death.

I was going to create a new thread for this but since we're doing feathers, and things long dead, here is strangely appropriate:

Tyrannosaurus rex had feathers.

I repeat, T. rex, the monster king of the tyrant lizards, conceivably had feathers, at least in the juvenile form. Definitely one of his ancestors had feathers. Seems like the evolution of feathers was a way for small warm-blooded dinosaurs to conserve body heat - and not necessarily anything to do with flying.

That's fascinating. And I'm not even saying that because I want to be the last person to post here*. The idea of a fluffy, cuddly T-Rex-like creature running around is bizarre, to say the least.

*Which I am. I only wish I could find some Kentucky Fried T-Rex pics.
