"Suspicious packages" found at early voting sites.
I guess that's one way to keep people from showing up to the polls.

Re: Voter fraud vs. voter *registration* fraud
Rumor has it that a local suburban county elections office has a temporary employee who was dealing with cast ballots (we here in Orygun vote by mail) and decided to assist voters who had already cast their votes but neglected to select candidates in some races. She filled in the Republican candidates on the ballots in races where the voter had not made a selection. Straight Republican ticket. A criminal investigation is in process...as is a tight election for county commissioner.

Was it Washington county? I left some races blank when all the candidates sucked. I hope she didn't fill in any on my ballot!

Nope...It was the Clackistan Elections Orifice, in Orygun Shitty.
Of course, there's no reason to think that Repugnantcan operatives have not infiltrated the hallowed Hillsboro halls of the Warshington County Elections Orifice. Here in Multnomah County, such infiltrators would stand out like a US Marine in Beirut.

She could also very easily have negated votes by marking a second choice on some of the ballots. Since you can only vote for one candidate that should invalidate the ballot.

Re: Voter fraud vs. voter *registration* fraud
Think Progress has this handy summary of Ohio Secretary of State John Husted's unhinged and ham-fisted efforts at election theft, and Ohio State University Lawprof Steven Huefner is posting regular updates on the shitstorm of litigation aimed at keeping Husted at least somewhat in line.
Florida and Ohio are locked in a desperate struggle to determine who gets to be the next Florida (2000) and the next Ohio (2004).

Re: Voter fraud vs. voter *registration* fraud
Technically, Obama needs neither state, but I wouldn't want to resort to counting on winning Virginia or some shit.
My only hope is that--since logically if you're stealing an election you'd want to tamper as little as possible to avoid suspicion--the wingnuts' delusion that Ohio is very close (Romney's doing better in pretty much every other swing state except Nevada and Wisconsin) will lead them to do too little to make a difference. Otherwise, I just hope the Rethugs don't get away with what they're doing.

Re: Voter fraud vs. voter *registration* fraud
I think there's a difference between the wingnuts who convince themselves that the polls are wrong and that Romney is already secret President, and the Republican operatives who are overseeing voter suppression efforts in Ohio and Florida. I believe that Bush stole Ohio in 2004. McCain would have done it if he had a chance at all. Romney has a chance, and this is a critical time for the GOP: it's probably the last presidential election where the party is old and white enough to maybe plausibly put it over the top. If it doesn't win now, the party may have to try to accommodate people who are not white, and it isn't very good at that.
I can't decide which is scarier: the prospect of the Republicans succeeding, or the prospect of the GOP dividing into big-tent and fascist factions. That's already happened to some extent, but the party has at least managed to stay together and reign in the noisier fascist wing to support a mediocre candidate, if only because he is the white man in the race. What happens when that party structure breaks down, and the most hateful are no longer constrained by party elders with some connection to pragmatism and reality? It's one thing to cynically manipulate cultural issues to appeal to the basest fears of the electorate; it's another thing to actually believe in the screed. Those are the scary people.

I for one would find it refreshing for the teabaggers and rednecks to just say what's on their mind without the party pretending to tut tut them. I would be all "Thank you" if someone actually said to me "He sucks because he's black, duh!"

Re: Voter fraud vs. voter *registration* fraud
One way to steal an election is to not deliver overseas ballots to military personnel on time.
You would think that after Obama ended the wars like so many voted for him to do that he would encourage the overseas military to vote ..
Quote:
Mail redirection in the military can take between 14 to 50 days, meaning a ballot could reach the voter possibly more than a month after ballots have to be mailed back in order to be counted. The Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA) identified problems with the system after the 2010 election, but hasn’t implemented changes.

He sucks because he sucks, not that magic underwear is any better, in fact, same soup different bowl .. but don't you think at this point (the black guy already won the presidency, he has served a term) blaming his potential lose on racism is a bit ridiculous?
I mean, he won a majority of the population .. did people that voted for him last time suddenly become racist?

I live in the deep South and most people here hate him because he's black. In any other case they would vote against a Mormon because they believe Mormons are a dangerous cult ruled by Satan. But even Satan is better than black here.

OK, did they vote for the black guy last time .. no?
Thus racism is not going to determine if he wins or loses this time. He already won the majority last time, he is the President.
It will take people that voted *for* him last time to vote *against* him this time for him to lose.

No.
With the exception of VA, NC, and FL, the entire south went for McCain, and 100% of the "deep south" did.
And almost all of the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states as well.
You're an idiot, Jerome.

So if he loses it is because states that voted for him last time must have become racist over these past four years.

LOL @ your own stupidity. The original comment from LadyShea was " deep south", not merely south.
