Filmstrip Shrek 2

Who here has seen it?

I took Zoe, who's picture I shall gratuitously post below :D, to see it on Saturday. I loved Shrek 1, but did not get to see it on the big screen. We have the video, so watching it every other weekend more than makes up for that. I will be purchasing the Shrek 2 video when it comes out, also.

This film picks up exactly where Shrek 1 left off, and the laughs start there. I'm not talking about little chuckles and titters to oneself, either, but vocal belly laughs; flesh wobbling, eye watering, fits of giggles that take you by surprise. I did not expect to be so delighted by this film.

The animation was rich with colour and movement, and the detail on each of the characters must have been painstaking for those at DreamWorks to achieve. The jokes were visual as much as they were aural, and I don't think a single Brothers Grimm fairy tale was left out. The movie as a whole was pure genius.

I'm having trouble trying not to post any spoilers for those who have yet to see it, and so I shall leave it there. If you have not seen it, go see it. You will not be disappointed.

Okay first of all, Zoe looks beautiful and vivacious and wearing the most eye-crossing jacket and tie combo I've seen in a while. :D

Having said that, I loved Shrek 2 also, perhaps even more than the first. Not only is the animation great, but so is every last one of the supporting actors. I particularly loved Rupert Everett as Charming and Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots.

I agree, Zoe is a pretty gal and looks like she's got your spunk. :)

I loved Shrek and Mike Myers is a comic genius. Did you guys see him on Inside the Actor's Studio? Brilliant. My first exposure to him was probably So I Married an Axe Murderer. Anyway...

I wanna see Shrek II now TOO! :(

Jennifer Saunders was my favorite of the new cast members, which is huge considering she was up against John Clese and Julie Andrews. My favorite new character had to be Puss n' Boots, though. And I could have died over the giant ginger-bread man. Oh don't even get me started on this movie. I may have to watch it a 2nd time in the theatre which I never do.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing. In fact, I'm pretty sure I will see it a second time at the theatre - something I never do, neither.

VM - you have to go. Seriously. Time and money very well spent. :)

And yes, my darling is beautiful - even in her eye-crossing school blazer and tie. How kind of you to notice. lol. ;)

I have to say that maybe I liked Shrek 1 a little better than Shrek 2. I don't really know why, except maybe I had some unrealistic expectations, or the novelty had worn off for me.

That's not to say that I disliked it, though. I absolutely adore Puss in Boots. :hearts:

Oh, and Zoe looks like a doll.

I second everything freemonkey said about Shrek and everything everyone said about Zoe :)

I did enjoy Shrek 2 but not quite as much as Shrek. I enjoyed it enough that I'd recommend it to anyone who liked Shrek.

What about that Puss In Boots scenes where Puss makes the big eyes? I think those were my favorites!

I loved Shrek2 even more than 1. To think, I almost didn't go. Boy, that would've been a mistake. I laughed my ample ass off.

BTW, I third everything everyone said about Zoe, she's a doll.

I thought Shrek II was wonderful - there was all that Hollywood subtext that's amusing to adults, even if youngsters don't appreciate it.

And when I heard that some extremist religious group or other was telling people not to see it because of the reference to Pinocchio wearing women's underwear and because of that bartender, that made it all the more attractive.

This was easily the best movie I've seen in years! I mentally screamed "Haha, I can't believe they did that!!" throughout. It had everything. A great storyline, spoofs of dozens of other movies and cultural icons, amazing animation and music, even adult inside jokes. (An especially notable part was when they kept alluding to Fairy Godmother being a madam.) And the premise alone--making ridiculously fun mockeries of folklore and cherished childhood tales--is a definite winner, regardless of what else they'd add. To top it all off, for obvious reasons, I found the story of love triumphing over such adversity absolutely charming.

Puss 'n Boots was by far my favorite character. Even without the aforementioned, Antonio Banderas parodying his earlier role as Zorro to such great effect was worth triple the price of admission alone.

Definitely something I'd want to watch again; curse the fact it's only coming out on DVD in November. :qarg: Maybe I can just grab it from the Internet before then, copyright laws be damned. :P

Yep, Shrek 2 is a great movie. The only complaint I have about it is that it seems as though Puss 'n Boots switches sides to team up with Shrek a bit too quickly and easily...

Other than that, it was prettymuch perfect!
