Re: Good King Trump
Australia's PM Slowly Realizes Trump Is a Complete Idiot
I can't wrap my mind around how stupid Trump is. How did this happen? How can he not understand such a simple concept?
Does he have dementia that goes in and out or something? What's the deal? He doesn't always come off that stupid.

Re: Good King Trump
Dementia does kind of ebb and flow, like with sundowning, so it would make sense that sometimes he's more out of it than others. Because yeah, that goes beyond his usual variety of hot take stupidity.
I have no idea how anyone can not realize what a bad thing this is at this point, and I don't know any Trump supporters so I can ask them. Are they just not paying any attention? Are they themselves incapable of following something as simple as that, so they don't notice that Trump isn't understanding? Are they just so bitter that they somehow don't care?

When I was waiting in line to vote back in November, I overheard a couple of people in front of me saying that they felt that neither Democrats nor Republicans truly represented their interests. Consequently, they were planning to vote for Trump -- even though they were fully aware that he was a horrible person and that he certainly wasn't concerned with the welfare of poor and working-class Americans such as themselves. So, what was their reasoning? They figured that the entire system was corrupt and needed to be brought down, so that it could then be rebuilt from the bottom up. And they figured that Trump was just the sort of person who would bring the entire system crashing down.
They even noted that there was no guarantee that if Trump did bring the entire system crashing to the ground that what would arise from the wreckage would be any better than what we currently have. Nonetheless, they insisted, things were unlikely to become any worse from their perspective -- and might even get better.

Re: Good King Trump
So...
Scaramucci is canned with Kelly coming in.
No new communications director.
Trump is being moved to a 17 day 'working vacation' at a New Jersey golf course.
It sounds to me like the new Chief of Staff is moving his charge out of the festering source of ongoing leaks that is the White House. It will be interesting to see if Kelly manages to take a 'leak-proof staff' with the president to Jersey. Then, of course, there is the 'big leak' of the orange-faced monster. We'll get to see if General Kelly can get Cheeto Benito to dial back the Tweets.
I'm betting not on both counts. I give it two weeks; less than the estimated duration of the 'working vacation'.
Kelly gone by the new academic year?

I've actually watched a few clips from the David Pakman Show where they speculate on the possibility of Trump having dementia. I think considering how his cognitive abilities seem to be declining before our very eyes, it is quite possible he is in fact suffering from dementia, which is terrifying when you consider he's essentially the most powerful person on the planet.
In some ways, I think he's worse off than he was during the campaign. It's possible that the stress and demands of the job is accelerating whatever mental decline he's on.

Re: Good King Trump
That was one of his best New Rules segments in years. The Obama impersonator did an excellent job imitating the real deal's cadence, which really elevated the quality of the skit.

As such, Trump and the modern Republican Party are simply the logical result of nearly 40 years of following the path that Reagan blazed.

I know another such person and he's watching the shitstorm with relish, openly betting on Trump's demise. He's not pretending everything's OK and calling all trouble "fake news". So I don't think this theory explains Trump's ongoing supporters.
