Alert Re: Crumb's Game Thread

I've been pondering trying a few new games here to see how they go over. if anyone would be interested in trying any of these please let me know. These are the three I think might work bast as forum games.

Alibi - Deduction game using cards like Clue, but without any board or movement mechanic. Players ask questions, pass cards, match sets and make deductions.

Code 777 -Mathematical deduction game where players ask questions about what numbers the others can see in order to figure out what their number are (that they cannot see).

Dixit -A lighter game we would play with smilies. The real game uses artful cards. Each player takes a turn being the "storyteller" and post a sentence related to one of their smilies. All other players throw on of their smilies in that most closely matches the sentence. Then the other players guess which smiley was the storytellers. Players get points for getting the right smiley and for getting other players to choose their smiley. The storyteller gets points for getting some, but not all of the players to guess the right smiley.

Anyone interested in trying one of these. Code 777 is the one I am the least familiar with.

I'm up for trying any of those, if we can get a quorum.

Alibi and Dixit both sound like fun. Dixit appeals to me a little bit more than Alibi because storytelling is fun and I think :ff:ers would make it hilarious and fun.

I think Dixit might be a good one to try. My friend just got a copy for his birthday so I will get a chance to try out the real game soon.

Should we use smilies or should I find some pictures somewhere else?

Here is an example of what the game cards look like:

They have a little more going on then your average smiley.

:prettycolors: Oooo! Yeah they do! How many cards do you need? Some of the animated ones are pretty involved, but I think the story part would benefit from some of the surrealism the original cards have.

Is 1000words.com still around? They would be a good source of those kinds of images. I would be happy to help you look.

Oh and after jumping back over to pinterest, I have a board that might be useful. They are all black and white images I collected: Nostalgia, ain't what it used to be. I don't own them or anything, just a collection of stuff I've found online. But you are welcome to them if they would help.

I would say for 6 players we need at least 54 cards, 72 if we want 6 cards for every round. But we could probably deal with fewer.

Shouldn't be too hard to find. Above I was thinking of Worth1000, which has water marked images but are under creative commons. Fun stuff there that is not black and white.

Is that a challenge I hear? :giggle:

:unrun:

ETA: Actually, this is a perfect project for the power of Pinterest! I shall convene the pinners and see what we can do. I bet we could reach a 100 in no time flat.

Dixit Board.

There is a game they run on forums over on BGG that looks like good fun. :unnod: It is based on the Paranoia RPG. (Paranoia (role-playing game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)) I think it would be great to run one here.

It is very different from Mafia. There is no voting. Everyone is armed with a laser and perhaps other devices/abilities and you can shoot each other almost every round. Here is a link to what is mostly rules about how they play it at BGG: PARANOIA - MISSION 8: Back to the RAD Sector! Mission has begun! | BoardGameGeek | BoardGameGeek

Would anyone be interested in trying it out here?

Well, I have to run it now just so you will play a game here. :) Just to be clear we wouldn't be playing Paranoia, but a paranoia inducing game based on the Paranoia world and atmosphere.
