They aren't the same smiley tags. The second one should be the green guy that twirls his fingers. What gives?
I don't know what gave, but the url for was pointing to the file for . They had similar original filenames, so I suspect I changed the latter to the former unwittingly when removing spaces so consternation waves could work properly. I don't remember doing it and the original filename had underscores instead of spaces, as I recall, but that's the only thing that makes sense.

The clue's in the error message. is a PNG image, not a GIF and the current version of mirror only works with GIFs.
I could modify it to work with PNGs too - but that's the only smiley I've seen that's a PNG. I seem to remember that erimir's avatar is another PNG, though it's named as a GIF.
Let me know if you want mirror modified to cope with PNGs. I suppose I could make it support JPGs too, while I'm at it. Of course, both those formats don't support animation - so that makes it easier.
It's far easier for me to just change it to a GIF file. So easy, in fact, that I just did it. You've already done more than enough by making us the greatness that is the mirror code.
I think this may be quite likely the most horrifying thing in the hoard. It manages to exude an aura of terror without resorting to any gruesome tropes, but rather subverts what should be innocent fruit into something disturbingly Lovecraftian, something whose very existence challenges your sanity and thoughtlessly crushes any belief that the world could ever be right again.
Demi has reminded me of this abomination. If I can be assed to reinstall Paint Shop, I'll turn it into my Halloween avatar. The demon fruits will be positioned as if they're looking in a bedroom window in the middle of the night. Though having them pursue a human figure down a deserted street might be an apt metaphor for the human condition.
