Ya know, Mussolini gets overshadowed by Hitler I guess, because I know very little about his rise to power or his rule. I just did some preliminary looking...so thanks for posting this, it led to me wanting to learn some shit.

Was this the guide book Jean Brodie took with her to Rome, do you think?

Sweet find, Ensign. I love the bit about the glorious fascist construction which doesn't actually mention much in the way of construction. Probably because they started off demolishing a lot of the medieval city to make way for the wide boulevards like Via dei Fori Imperiali that allowed for glorious fascist parades.

When that book was written, incidentally, the neighborhood I lived in for 12 years had just begun to be built. It's replete with Ancient Rome-humping fascist architecture, including the glorious Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, aka, the swiss cheese.

Parts of Titus -- best moveh Shakespeare ever -- were shot there.

Swiss cheese is right, but it's certainly an interesting cheese.

Oh and this is the funniest thing I've read all day, "The Mussolini Forum is a blah Imperial Roman knockoff with all the authenticity of a theme-park food court and more naked male buttocks than a strip bar with a name like "The Manhole". This was supposed to be the future of civilization?"

What a great place for Ermir to spend his birthday!
