Last night I made Widget a baked garlic/shrimp/cheese appetizer and his dinner was Steak Pie, mashed potatoes, gravy & brussel sprouts.

I had a vegetarian stir fry on brown rice

HG had frozen pizza :meh:

Tonight I am making Widget liver & bacon, roasted potatoes, peas and probably a soup for appetizer.

I'll have another stir fry, no idea about HG, she has been foraging for her own food of late.

Tonight I think will be whole grain pene in a garlic laden tomato sauce with ground turkey "meatballs" and a nice little salad. Probably my last Deschutes Black Butte Porter as well.

Pork chops, collard greens, and some canned field peas. The field peas would be SO good, except for the fact that they are "seasoned" which makes them awful. RA likes them, so I'm going to make him eat them.

Cauliflower steaks on cauliflower puree. I got these amazingly gorgeous orange cauliflowers in my produce delivery last week, so it's all about them tonight.

The puree is a beautiful warm yellow, like the color of a golden tamarind.

The people had omelets--single egg with thin slices of chedda and pepperoni. The grups are having Subway footlongs - iza having a bacon lettuce & tomato on italian, Mrs KA is having provolone, bacon, and turkey with mkayo lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and olives on honey wheat. :shakegrinder:

And for desert, some "Chocolate Indulgence Cake"

Because someone is 5 month's old today! :D: :fest: :baby:

I have an unnatural adoration for cauliflower. I went through a phase last year where I had to have it at least 3 times a week.

I boiled the florets and a few cloves of garlic in a water-milk (and s&p) combo then reserved a cup or so of the cooking liquid to add to the drained florets in the blender. I also threw in a glug of chicken broth.

When the steaks were almost done steaking, I nuked the puree with a handful of grated sharp cheddar, then served the steaks on top of the puree. Cauliflower bonanza deliciousness. :wriggle:

Some folks on low carb diets use puree of cauliflower in place of mashed potatoes.

For a while, I was making roasted cauliflower, like, every day or something. Nobody else here likes it, though, so I'd eat a whole cauliflower by myself.

Also, I decided I feel too gross to make dinner tonight, so we're going to have leftovers or ramen or whatever.

Oh, yeah. Potatoes are almost pure starch, carbs higher on the insulin reactive scale than sugar. The only thing worse than potatoes is white rice.

From a recipe in Cooks Illustrated, with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roasted at really high temps--like 475 or something.

I think I might have posted it here a while back, actually.

Yep.

I've read that but I've never tried it. I did use pureed cauliflower in some mac and cheese I made and it was delicious.

Legs - sweet potatoes are a good, healthier substitute for regular potatoes. I make baked fries with them all the time.

OK. Vegetable curry tonight. I have eggplant, cauliflower, and zucchini, and I'm thinking I might stick some carrots in there just so it won't be quite so sickly looking.

On brown rice, because we're out of red and I forgot to get more when I was at that store the other day.

This is going to be a very 70s looking yellowish beige dinner, though, no matter what I do. No wonder nobody loves me.
