1. I made no claims about any root cause for a hypothetical loss. I merely corrected your patently obvious error that "did they vote for the black guy last time, no?"

2. Racism has increased since 2008. The Teabatters are a big cause of that. This isn't news to anyone.

OK, did they vote for the black guy last time .. no?

Thus racism is not going to determine if he wins or loses this time. He already won the majority last time, he is the President.

It will take people that voted *for* him last time to vote *against* him this time for him to lose.
Um, where did I say anything at all about racism deciding the election today? You are responding to points I didn't make, Jerome.

I was gonna say. And Maryland and DC as well. It's kinda weird that the capital of the North is in the South.

Mother Jones has its own voter suppression map, along with a list of problems that have happened. I'm strongly considering subscribing to them next year because of all the great reporting they've done this year. (Probably can't afford it before then, even though it's $12 per year)

That's the historical division more so than the current, cultural division.

DC and most parts of Delaware and Maryland don't consider themselves Southern.

The southern rural parts of those states probably do - but they're not very much of their state populations at all.

Baltimore and Washington, DC represent the southernmost part of the northeastern US line of metropolises (Boston-Providence-New York- Philadelphia-Baltimore-DC sometimes called BosWash) and certainly politically they act like the other parts.

Anyway, Jerome was laughing at the suggestion that Southerners didn't vote for Obama, not saying that Virginia, NC and Florida weren't part of the Southern region. But this, of course, doesn't prove in any way that Obama did or didn't lose votes because of racism, since the idea certainly isn't that Obama should have gotten a fixed percent of the vote if that were true, but rather than his margin of victory would be decreased by some number of points (so, perhaps without racism he would have achieved a 10 pt victory over McCain, for example).

It all sounds a lot like Milosevic in his last days. As long as you almost win the elections, it's easy to steal them.

Video showing registered voters being forced to vote with provisional ballots—the very same provisional ballots that Secretary Husted claims are going to be a "problem" in the Ohio election.

I got the link to this video from the Twitter #VoterSuppression hashtag.

There's also a great quote in that Twitter channel:

Lincoln had the Maryland legislature arrested sans charges to prevent the capital from being surrounded.

Exactly, I was pointing out that those states *are* in the south and they voted for the black guy.
Except that:

1. the comment was about DEEP south, not merely south;
2. the deep south went 100% for McCain, not Obama - thus proving you wrong;
3. the vast majority of the rest of the south also went for McCain, not Obama

Keep wiggling.

Pennsylvania is a heavy democratic state, how is it logical that PA is cheating for the republican??

They haven't voted republican since 1988.
