I don't know what a cutie mark is on account of the olds, but I think she's even more fly now, like Cry Baby after he got his prison tattoo.

That is definitely a cutie mark, and it looks like it's in the shape of a roll with a for in it, a la Charlie Chaplin.

It's a manta ray cutie mark, meaning she was a sea dog in another life.

I can't believe I've been in love with pibbles since only 2009. Maybe a little earlier, but ZZ is my first one true love. ANYHOO. That whole Michael Vick thing was happening before even then. I bring this up because there's a documentary out now, The Champions.
Thanks to the efforts of organizations like Bad Rap, I am also in love with the community of people who take the time and effort to help Pit Bulls and pibble-type doges. And how can you not fall in love with the resiliency of the pibbles themselves?

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
So our official snow totals for the day, as of a couple of hours ago, was two feet. (It's still snowing, though.) However, it has also been windy, so it's quite a bit deeper than that around the house, including in the back yard. It's taller than either of the dogs. But that's where they powder their noses, so they kind of have to go out. I would be fine with them just going under the tree by the door, where the snow isn't as deep, but they both insisted on going all the way out into the yard, which they do by hopping. Basically, they jump up as high as they can and then plop down into the snow a few feet away, and repeat repeatedly. You can't actually see them except in mid-hop. They'd just pop up and then disappear into the snowbank again.
Zsa Zsa was really just getting from point A to point B, but Flossy was hopping ALL OVER THE PLACE, in circles, trying to get Zsa Zsa to play chasing games and stuff and I had to yell at her to leave her sister alone and stop partying so hard.
I am sorry I didn't bring the camera, but I was out there with them because I figured I might need to carry one or both of them back inside, so I wasn't thinking about photo opportunities.

That's okay, I'm actually mad at Matlock for not being around to get a picture of you carrying one or both of them in from the snow.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Ripley's totally turning white all over and looking hella old. I didn't think she was that old. She's had this cool white skunk stripe down her back for a couple years, and I figured maybe she when white early cuz she's all neurotic like a chihuahua. But then yesterday bey pointed out that her paws are totally white and today I can see it all over her muzzle and face.
We got her in like January 2010, and we thought she was less than a year old then so she's maybe like 7? I guess she's getting up there. Awww, puddin...

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I'm in LA this weekend and I stayed last night at my friend's house and she has one of those "rag doll" cats and this thing is amazing. It's like 15 pounds and beautiful, with long hair and a black & white chimera face. It's limp as a bag of potatoes, you can pick it up and throw it around and do anything to it. It's name is Zen.
Tonight I'm staying with my stepmom and my niece, and they have 2 little dogs. Crash Boom Bang is a white poodle and he's blind and he got that name because he is always running into stuff. Pippi Poopie Puppy is maltipoo + chihuahua + terrier, and she is smaller than Crash but way stockier. She has the same protective, territorial, asshole personality as our oversized chihuahua, Ripley, so I love her immediately! She does not appreciate me being in my niece's bed.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
This may still be embargoed, and there are some moving parts, but I have just this hour been advised presently to expect a new fambly member. She is about 10, some kind of lab mutt, has a chronic-but-treatable endocrine disease, and is reported to be a very good girl. Her people could not afford to treat her and were going to have her euthanized; my better half said NOPE and she is coming home after she gets out of the hospital, if everything goes well. PupF has not yet been informed but he will be deliriously happy to have an in-house friend to lick.
Normally this kind of thing would only be done with prior feline approval, but we are hopeful that the cat will be understanding of the exigent circumstances. I mean, he won't, and he'll probably shit on the floor next to the box for a few days out of spite, but we are hopeful nonetheless.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I went to meet her today after work, and yeah, I am in lurve. She is not feeling very well right now and looks very sad with big sad eyes. And the big sad eyes probably had something to do with the adoption. I feel bad for her parents, too. I don't have any reason to believe that they gave her anything other than good care and love for a long time, and not having enough money to pay for specialized treatment isn't doing anything wrong. It sucks to have to think about euthanizing a dog for money reasons, and while I guess it's intellectually better to relinquish the dog to somebody else, that still has to be difficult. I hope it will help to know that she'll get all the care she needs, and will basically be like the president and travel everywhere with her veterinarian and her lawyer.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
The late, great Buddy came to us after his person turned him into a shelter shortly before becoming homeless. The dude had likely been having financial trouble for some time and couldn't afford vet care, as Buddy had quite a few treatable but untreated ailments. Somewhere at home we may still have the ten-page, single-spaced, typed write-up the dude put together about what a wonderful dog Buddy was and how the person who adopted him would be the luckiest bastard on the planet. Heartbreaking stuff.

It has to be heartbreaking for owners to give up their long time companions because they just can't take care of them anymore. Praise the Great Pibble that there are loving people who find it in their own hearts to take over the love and care.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I have a few pictures to share. BE WARNED some may find this content disturbing(ly sweet)
1. First sight of the dog that would become PupetteF. Approval to adopt obviously granted.
2. I am explaining to PupF that he will have a new sister and that she doesn't feel well and he's going to have to keep his shit together when she gets here.
3. Riding home today.
4. Meeting PupF. PupF was super fucking thrilled to meet his sister. A little too rambunctious, even. He was very sweet and super submissive, but he pretty much just bugged the living shit out of her for an hour. She got a break when we went on a short walk all together. He finally stopped licking her face and gave her a little break.
5. Examining the new home. Still scared.
6. Still sad.
7. Invited herself up on the couch for a nap. PupF does not allow solo napping in the house.
Now everybody is napping.

First I have something to say about PupF: EARS! Also tail feathers! God he's adorable.
Now, about PupetteF. Yes, extremely irresistible sad doggeh face, sure, but OMFG WHITE SOCKS ON EVERY FOOT AND WHITE TIP OF TAIL!!!
Congratulations on your gorgeous fambly, Chuck.

Thank you all! More pics to follow over the coming weeks.
liv, as usual you exhibit perception and impeccable judgment. PupF communicates primarily through his ears, which he uses to exploitative effect when it suits him. His big fat tail usually gives him away though.
PupetteF is napping on the couch next to me now. She is a champion farter. After some truly ferocious farting during her last nap, we went outside for a last chance at a daylight poop. This was her first poop since going into the hospital a few days ago. She hasn't been eating that much, but just recall from your own experience how much better the first convalescent poop makes one feel.
