I'm not sure that anything would effectively kill either of the parties. They're both like hydras.

I thought etiquette rules dictate that you address a person with the last highest office they occupied. Thus it's perfectly acceptable to call her "Governor" - even if she was a quitter.

As an Illinoisan, it's going to rankle me that Roland Burris will be addressed as "Senator" for the rest of his life....

Newsmax "helping" Palin's book sales?

The defense is so transparent as to be an explicit confession: we’re not buying in bulk to rig bestseller lists, we’ve just bought so many, we plan to give the book free to booksellers so they can sell it for $20 of the list price (that’s 69.85% off), before it even comes out!

Newsmax is also offering free copies to anyone who subscribes to their propaganda rag, where they will continue to pitch foreign currency schemes they’re invested in and the shoddy wares of pseudo-politicos like Palin....

From what I understand, this is similar to how $cientology keeps books like Dianetics on the best-seller lists. Namely, the Church of Scientology buys up huge quantities of the books, then they can then say something like: "See? They're constantly on the best-seller lists! They must be conveying all sorts of important and life-altering information, or the bookstores wouldn't be selling so many of them! So why haven't you bought a copy yet?"

Cheers,

Michael

It's also fairly typical for the conservative movement generally. Back when I was subscribing to the National Review (hey, why are you looking at me like that? :narrow:), they used to offer books that they had bought in bulk. Either that or they were books by the numerous Buckley clan.

My book selection was actually a very useful book called Speaking in Public by Reid Buckley, one of the clan who isn't a professional ideologue.

So it doesn't surprise me that Newsmax is buying Palin's ghostwriter's books in bulk and giving them away for free. That's how their world has worked for about twenty years.

The more Palin and Orly can stay figure heads of the conservatives the happier I am. I wonder how she or rather her ghostwriter is going to spin her resignation so she could do more important things like go on Oprah.

I used to subscribe to Money magazine and the Wall Street Journal and I have no money or much in the way of investments that have turned out worth a shit. I also own a half dozen copies of the King James Bible and at least one copy of the Book of Mormon and I'm neither Christian nor Mormon.

It's all too much and too stupid. The Media™ needs to leave Levy in his frozen trailer park as the useless gossiping shitbag he is. And Sarah Palin will fade into obsurity just as soon as they* stop paying attention to her - even if it is to laugh. I'm tired of this pretending she matters on any stage, including the one she quit.

Well, it's a parody. IMO it kinda sucked in virtue of being a lame parody. The real SP is a walking parody; if you're going to try one-up her, you better bring something stronger than that, IMO, sophomoric drivel.

It's like he forgot the sublimity of Tina Fey's point in the .

Anymore I can't separate parody and fact when it comes to Palin. Although the more reasonable things are normally parody.
