Turns out they don't give a hoot who knows about it. Trump's nominee to head Interior is all about selling off federal land. I hope all the Trump voters are happy now when they drive the family all the way to Yellowstone and all they get is a picture of is a Private Property, Trespassers Will Be Violated sign.

Dammit, the next 4 years are going to suck.

I mean, I thought Dubya was a horrible excuse for a President, but now I fear that we'll someday be looking back on the Dubya regime as a time of relative tolerance, sanity, and responsibility.

Yes well. One of the commenters: "epic takedown of know-nothing @JohnCornyn using his kryptonite, facts". But facts are not kryptonite to these people. They aren't affected by facts (perhaps slightly allergic), they go out of their way to ignore them. Facts aren't kryptonite, they are gluten.

A new rule, written by House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT), establishes as fact that any legislation to dispose of public lands and natural resources would cost taxpayers exactly $0. This paves the way for the new Congress to get rid of vast swaths of public lands — all at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Under Congressional Budget Office accounting rules, the House is required to account for the cost of any legislation it considers. Now, the House does not need to even estimate any financial losses from giving away public land. Bills to dispose of public land will skip several steps in the normal legislative process, coming up for a vote without any discussion of the costs and benefits. The House approved the rules change by a vote of 234 to 193 on Tuesday.
Since the move applies only to House rules, it is not subject to approval by the Senate or a presidential signature. It is effective immediately.

You oppose the selling of public lands, but vote for a rule change that makes selling public lands easier.

Burning wood for energy ignites fierce academic row - BBC News

From the link Scientists on both sides of the Atlantic have become embroiled in a war of words over energy from trees. A recent Chatham House report claimed that burning wood for electricity is worse for the climate than using coal.

It sparked a backlash from a group of 125 academics in the field who said the research was deeply flawed.

Now supporters of the original study have hit back, saying that to avoid dangerous warming the world needs to plant more trees, not burn them.

Burn & Plant - Burn & Plant - Burn & Plant

This is about trees not cremations. Although, that would work too.

If man would just let nature alone plenty of trees and other green plants would grow up to offset however much wood is burned. I have a little over 2 acres and have had about 45 dead trees cut down or topped and that is less than half of the dead trees from the Gypsy Moths several years ago. Nature replenished with lots of "weeds" growing up till the trees grew up and shaded out the undergrowth.

Trump Approves Keystone XL Pipeline, Groups Vow 'Fight Is Not Over' | Alternet

Quote:
"Keystone carries Canada's oil through an unnecessary pipeline likely made of foreign steel, all while polluting our heartland, treading on the rights of Indigenous people and private landowners," said Greenpeace USA climate campaign specialist Diana Best in reaction to today's development.
The pipe is from a Canadian manufacturer that is about 30% owned by Russian extractogarch Abramov who was a guest at Ivanka's wedding.

I'm not as upset about the pipeline now as I might've been earlier. I'm glad Obama delayed it for ten years. In that space, the tar sands have gotten much less attractive as an economically viable resource. One large oil co recently wrote down the value of their reserves by some billions of dollar, and another developer had to sell their operations at a big loss. Renewables have also gotten a much better toehold as a practical energy alternative in the interval.

The part about Abramovich at Ivanka's wedding is wrong, I was going from memory. The real deal, though, from the link...

Quote:
Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump, maintains her own ties to Abramovich. Ivanka’s circle of friends includes Dasha Zhukova, the wife of Abramovich.

Jake Sherman, a reporter for Politico, tweeted that Zhukova attended Trump’s presidential inauguration at the invitation of Ivanka. The two have appeared in public on several occasions, most recently during the U.S. Open tennis tournament, which Ivanka attended with her husband and top Trump aide, Jared Kushner.

Perhaps Trump will do away with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, that has been stealing private land to pursue it's fake agenda, and return that land to it's rightful owners.

LOL, do you people, like, leave notes for your fairy godmother Trump under your pillows or something, expecting him to grant all your petty, venal little wishes and revenge fantasies?

Donald Trump doesn't give a single shit about you, and he'd only give a shit about your property if one of his cronies wanted to build a refinery or a casino or something on it.
