Re: Would you eat...
You people are so funny.
Shea, I don't think I'm allergic to any of those ingredients. I could be, but since they're all fairly common I'd think I would've had this problem a lot more in life. Granted I may have developed an allergy to something in there, but that seems a stretch.
Oh man, y'all are gonna kill me but I just remembered something else!
I had just come back from Michigan, where I had been surrounded by family, including many babies and several people who had had the stomach flu earlier in the week. So if it's possible that I caught a bug there but didn't experience the symptoms for 2 or 3 days, then that's probably what happened.

Re: Would you eat...
We had some friends stay with us for a few days once, during which their kids projectile vomited all over the house. We assumed "cheap buffet born illness", but no. 2 days after they left, Frankie and I ended up projectile vomiting. At least we made it to the bathroom though.

Re: Would you eat...
Eat the dogs, pussy! Wrap them in croissants and bake them. Cut them up and put them on spaghetti. Snarf them raw, right out of the pack. Jennie-O turkey dogs are good for you. They'll put hair on your chest.

Re: Would you eat...
Well, I got some local beer for a buddy and myself to drink one night. A new to us brand. We both thought it tasted good, but after 2 or 3 we were both in the bathroom and feeling not so good stomach wise. Naturally we blamed the beer.
So, we switched to another brand.
Next day I had a few of the offending beers left and drank them. Had no problem with them. Go figure.
I think you can ascertain from the above whether I would advise eating the dogs to find out if they were the culprit or not. Might not be smart, but it is what I would do.
ETA: damn you VM for bumping this. Somehow I missed that. Oh well, at least you did the right thing and eat them again

Re: Would you eat...
Who buys a 24 pack of weiners? (unless you have 10 kids or something)
I am not a hot dog fan but we buy the top dogs that are individually packed so you just take out as many as you need

Same guy who gets Kraft Singles 72 at a time.
Oscar Mayer makes the bun-length weiner that comes in convenient resealable packs of four.

Re: Would you eat...
It's the curse of Sam's Club, I tell ya! Who can resist getting twice as much for the same price?
So I just went to throw them out and noticed a Use by: Dec 20, 2004 on the package.

Re: Would you eat...
My recipe for hot dogs contains mustard, chopped onion, sliced tomatoes, sauerkraut, and melted mozzarella cheese. That way you ingest the nutritious goodness of the lips, eyelids, and mechanically separated viscera without actually having to taste it.

Hhmm, I can't imagine having sauerkraut on a hot dog.
Everything else, yes! Not cabbage.

Re: Would you eat...
Interesting thread....
It seems vm has a bulk food compulsion.
And vm, the date was long before you started the thread, but you'd mentioned that you'd frozen them.
All commercial frankfurters are fully cooked before packaging. They, along with other visceral bits like baloney, olive loaf, pimento loaf and genoa salami are all safe to eat without re-cooking. Or should be.
The offending bacteria might have been on his hands, rather than the dogs.
I'm with Yb on this. "When in doubt, throw it out."
And I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what liv has against folks from Vienna. Perhaps she prefers Frankfurters?
