Extensive land border and the fact that Rotterdam is the harbour for most of Germany and beyond (the amount of traffic on Dutch rivers is pretty high). I'm just amazed they realised it.

I love Boris's startled reaction now that he is likely to become Mr Brexit. He was all "now now no need to rush into anything" all of a sudden as he realizes he actually got what he supposedly wanted, and is now going to be held responsible for any nasty fall-out.

Pish. Boris is a master at not being responsible for anything. He'll laugh it off, silly me, and somehow he will get away with it.

So unless and until we get a 75% turnout with a 60% result we are doomed to keep holding referendums forever? This last one only got a 72% turnout so I can't see that happening.

Leavers are indeed primitive, xenophobic bigots (and stupid to boot) (OK, maybe only 99% of them) - but the fundamental question is who made them that way. A: successive waves of UK governments. And EU government bodies, and US governments.

And in various ways through the article, he or people quoted make the point that brexiters voted with justifiable reasons but for something that will not help.

The same arguments apply to war.

Yeah, they are kicking out at things that have little or nothing to do with what they're really mad about, that's the problem.

Like over here we have Wilders going on and on about the Muslims and foreigners in general, while at the same time the healthcare system and all kinds of things there to protect ordinary people against banks, insurance companies, employers and other big players are being systematically torn down by a government that includes the 'liberal' VVD (actually free market fundamentalists) and 'social democratic' PvdA (actually pretty much the same thing). Left and right have hardly any meaning if the parties all do exactly the same things. So yeah, people go for the radicals. Sadly, the rightwing radicals.
Mostly because the media and all the other politicians are going along with the extreme right. They are all trying to beat Wilders by adopting his program, not by attacking his positions.
