Default new 9/11 doc.

this seems like a reasonable look at the poopy quagmire that is 9/11. i don't usually like all the attention 9/11 gets (overshadows the fact that it is nothing new and bad shit happens everywhere) and the chicken littles present 'facts' that seem more like a black ops action than that of concerned citizens, or it becomes a vehicle for votes, a la michael whore, but i also think there is a lot of lies that make up the official story...

this just seemed like it might be a reasonable and rational look at things. if that turns out to be true, i hope it wakes people up to more than just the swindle that is 9/11...

imo, of course. :)

I'll grant that the movie might be more compelling than the trailer, but to me that looks like a mosaic of conspiracy theories with no solid evidence to support them.

Just to pick one item: How in the hell is a landlord going to know what his tenants are up to? It's not like they were cooking meth in the apartment or something as easily detectable.

I didn't think F9/11 was all that fact-filled either, really, but it didn't really need to be since it was consistent with most other accounts of what happened. It's the conspiracy theorists who really need to be heavy on the evidence, since as they say, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

the one thing that has always bothered me is that people who took a rushed flight course could pilot those jets with such precision. i don't have an answer as to how it was done, but it has always left a bad taste in my mouth.

good point, dingfod, btw...

still...looks like it could be interesting. i hope it is heavy on eyewitness testimony from that day, which it seems to promise.

I can't imagine it's that hard to steer a jet into a skyscraper, and the other two planes (the Pentagon and Philly planes) didn't exactly hit bulls-eyes.

My guess is that the difficult bits in flight school are:

1) Knowledge of Regulation and Procedure.
2) Landing
3) Taking off
4) Dealing with unusual conditions and emergencies, such as loss of hydraulics, an engine falling off, landing gear failure, that sort of thing.

If the airplane is fully functional, already in the air, and you don't care about regulation and procedure, my uneducated guess is that actually getting the thing to go left, right, up and down probably isn't all that hard.

I think too much credit has been given for sophistication of the plot. One, a plan as simple as this one was, I and a couple of my friends could've cooked up on a weekend after a couple cases of beer. Secondly, I've only flown a 747 on MS-FlightSimulator, but I firmly believe I could have easily done what those terraists did on 9/11/2001. Taking off and flying aren't hard, it's the landing that's difficult.

i'm not disagreeing with you guys, or saying it is impossible...just doesn't sit right with me. i do think you underestimate the difficulty of flying those planes with no experience, while finding and locking on to the target.

to be honest, i usually try to avoid 9/11 debates and keep my opinions to myself, but i did think this looked interesting...

Skip the weekend and the beer. Just read The Running Man.

The Pentagon, as I noticed about a week before this all happened, was and is a pretty clear area. Standing on the porch of Robert E Lee's house at Arlington National Cemetary I remarked to my friend (propheticaly, because I am a prophet, right?*) "Geeze, it looks like a big target."

In fact, before 9/11/01, the Pentagon was known locally as Ground Zero, since it was commonly accepted that if something were to happen, it would very likely happen there. My suggestion was that they should plant more and bigger trees to somewhat obscure it. They don't listen to socialists on this type of thing, and look- LOOK- what happened.

*No, I am not a prophet, just someone with normal observational skills.

No more prophetic than the writers of The Lone Gunmen.

Well, yes, there should be a weekend and beer. But it's not necessary to hatching a nefarious plot.

Just once, I'd like a beer weekend sans the nefarious plot. Kills my buzz.:glare:

A beer-soaked weekend can serve as a catalyst for some wild-ass thought processes.

And if 3000 Islamists had mooned the Twin Towers and then held a spontaneous parade, I would have wondered...
