Fucking hell!
I'm delighted to see you again, Farren. I have often wondered where the heck you disappeared to. Welcome, welcome, welcome back again, my friend!
Where you been, and what you been doin'?

PETRA! BEBBE!
Man I've just realised how many beautiful people I've been out of touch with since I stopped posting here. How are you? How's your lovely daughter? She must be a whole lot bigger now.

Re: Not really new, but
I've been adrift in cyberspace. For some bizarre reason I've been posting here a lot in the last 2 years. I think it was originally because big things were happening on my home turf and I wanted to talk to other South Africans about them, but despite the fact that it's the forum of a left-liberal advocacy newspaper, it seems to have been swamped by small-minded right-wing white South Africans, with the result that a good deal of my online life of late has consisted of flame wars and unrewarding arguments about race and IQ with crypto-racists (since the Watson Incident).
Anyhoo, my housemate prodded me into getting a facebook profile the other day and finding a couple of long-lost friends put me in mind of all you beautiful people....

No, srsly! One friend. An Ex-marine. You might know him as "Jacey".
Yes, still in the military for another 8 weeks. Not that I'm counting.

The very best on the Internet. God knows why I drifted away. I think it had a lot to do with a short attention span, too many drugs and a life that was spiralling into self-inflicted - I almost said chaos but it wasn't that exciting - what's a good word for disorganized boredom coupled with a kind of sadness induced by your once-large circle of fleshly friends scattering to other continents until only a tiny fraction are left in the country of your birth?

Wow, where do I start? I got married, bought a house, had 2.5 kids...
What? It could happen!
Seriously though, I'm still single and living with my buddy squian, but now in Austin, Texas. I work at a "major computer company" as they say, but not doing anything particularly inspiring. I was doing work as a SQL DBA for about nine months, but that contract ended and now I'm doing basic network admin/gopher work.
That's about all the news that's fit to print!

Chaos is actually pretty boring. I think that was the right word.
