Re: Miscellany
Yeah, I think it's a little tacky, a little disturbing, even. I'm sure Demi's right about the psychology of it, but just like parents who have lost children want their pain and memory acknowledged, parents of living children shouldn't have to associate their healthy, happy kid's birth with other children's deaths in order to be respectful.
Even from a gut-reaction superstition angle, it's a pretty dark thing to inflict on a dad. I made the sign of the horns myself and I don't has babbies.

Re: Miscellany
Yeah, it's odd, and strikes me as sort of a twisted envy, even if unconscious. But not having lost a child, I wouldn't judge too harshly.
But a to happy birthday wishes for the wee weilet.

Re: Miscellany
She's a good friend, if a bit flaky and somewhat self-absorbed at times. She does now have a happy and healthy two year old daughter, so there's that.
But, yeah, bad vibes from the Facebook update. It's the kinda thing she'd never say to me personally, you know "Happy Birthday to the Wee Wei and by the way did you remember Infant and Child Loss Day?"
But, on Facebook, it's a different story, since the point of the update isn't simply to wish happy birthday but to get others to remember her loss.
The weird thing is that she got the dates of both incorrect, it's actually tomorrow. But, thanks for the well-wishes.

Yep. Even I wouldn't go so far as to counsel you to pursue a higher education.
Be cool. School is for fools.

I wondered if it was a joke, but I have been slow on the uptake recently.

Re: Miscellany
What a strange connection of thoughts for people. On a day they were remembering their loss, you would think they would connect it to the child they lost.
It's not that hard to go to someone's specific page and write specific messages to them. And then write messages about what you are thinking on your own page.

Re: Miscellany
We accidentally left our cat on the deck all night. He was cold and wet this morning and I felt so guilty I thought I was going to puke. Remind me never to have a person-baby.

Re: Miscellany
At least your kitty was still out there. I did that to a new puppy last week and she ran off. I still haven't found her.

So sorry SharonD. I know how you feel. I'm the one that didn't close the door all the way when Jeeves made his escape.
