True, but they're the main contenders. I originally wanted Trump because of his stance on vaccines, but I don't agree on any of his other positions. I hope they overthrow citizens united.

I am wondering why you posted this in the Philosophy Forum. Didn't you know that we do have one for Politics?

I could have but I didn't want to get into a debate. I just wanted to clarify my position after watching the conventions. I could have put it in the vaccine thread since that's where I mentioned Trump regarding his position on this subject.

Are you somehow under the impression that there are no debates going on in this forum?

Peacegirl has been criticized for her inability to use the quote tags correctly, do you really expect her to make a post in the correct forum.

While Trump has his moron supporters, either white supremacist, angry/violent white person, still confused the American Dream is a hoax and that one day they will be as rich as Trump white dudes, or a combination of them. There's a second class of Trump supporters that aren't really supporters as Clinton haters, who hate her so much they will vote for a narcissistic moron to prevent her from becoming president.

Things like this make me wonder if we should not start demanding users of a democracy get a license first. I mean the same rationale applies as for gun licenses and drivers licenses: you are letting people mess around with something that is potentially lethal to the public. You can make the case that it would be irresponsible not to make sure they are not mentally incapacitated before we authorize them to select the next person to hold the keys to the worlds biggest nuclear arsenal.

Wouldn't it be more direct to require that the people who are running for office to get a license to do so, the the voting public would be guaranteed that the person running for office was qualified to do so. The problem is that you might not have any qualified candidates for any office.

Do you seriously believe that Hillary is better for the office than Trump? That really puts a question mark on your judgement.

I'm putting this here because just now the election thread is rightly focussed on a postmortem of last night's telly debate.

From the clip soundtrackI am staggered that so many conservative or evangelical Christians would see a man who is a bully, who made his money by casinos, who has had several wives and several affairs… That they would somehow paint him as a hero, as someone that we could stand behind.

I can imagine why the Clinton campaign might not feel able to use Yancey's condemnation directly. However, if you know any Trump supporters who see themselves as faithful Christians, you might try it. There something about Yancey's tone of loving concern that might win votes away from the Donald.

Having necroed the thread, I may as well hump it.
