Hate to point out the obvious, but UK has not embarked on the testing campaign because it would rapidly become apparent that we do not have the capacity. That would then lead to awkward questions about the wisdom of running down a country’s health service.
Far better to divert with Dunkirk, mass volunteer campaigns and hand clapping nonsense. Meanwhile our loved ones that work in the NHS are being sent like lambs to the slaughter without protective gear.
If not, there is no limit to how fucked we are. I just know people talk about cell phone numbers and potential victim numbers. I just assume that is conspiracy theory.
If the news was significant, the CCP would have suppressed it.

See? If you had left the EU earlier you could have strengthened the NHS with all the money saved! #GetBrexitDone #peoplesvote #brexitmeansbrexit #betteroffout
You just know the Americans are gonna be making films about COVID-19 where they make it out like they single handedly ended the whole pandemic themselves. Someone like The Rock will play the badass scientist who finds the cure while also fighting terrorists for some reason

Some places will be under-reporting deaths deliberately, some due to incompetence, some due to lack of testing, etc... There will also be people dying from other things because of lack of healthcare availability where systems are overloaded with COVID-19 cases that are not being counted (and eventually should be imo).
But by looking at average yearly deaths and comparing to this year, we can get a better idea of the true numbers of deaths.
I think this will be looked at in depth everywhere eventually.
If the press release he highlighted was indeed released by the WHO (I've not checked) then it is objective fact that they are issuing bad and contradictory advice.
I wonder how India will fare? I'm watching something now. Great crowds in urban centers have lost jobs and are traveling back to their hometowns. It's heartbreaking, so many are on foot with no money, no food for their children, with journeys of a week or more ahead.

Back to the mask discussion, here's an interesting bit from a columnist named Andrew Sullivan in the Intelligencer. It's preceded by a good critique of Dump.
There are plenty of solid studies behind the usefulness of masks in protecting against viruses. And there’s no need to be super uptight about what kind of mask you wear: Cambridge scientists found that a virus a fifth of the size of the novel coronavirus was stopped by a variety of mask materials. A surgical mask could keep out 89 percent of the viral particles, but a T-shirt mask could keep out 70 percent as well. So why is there even a debate?

Do we know that Chris Martenson is a voice to be trusted? He attacks the WHO more as a tabloid-journalist than an objective scientist would.
I don't know if that dude is to be trusted, but I did notice him talking about masks like they are 100% effective. I think he even said 99.9% at some point.
BUT! It does come to the same conclusions as the video. So I'm not saying people shouldn't wear masks when going out, I think everyone should. The article I posted shows that even an improvised one from tea cloth is better than nothing. So I'm on board with the conclusions Chris is saying in that video, but it did stick out to me that he is overstating the case on how effective masks are at blocking particles, even the N95 ones (but there are more reasons to wear masks anyway!).
