I voted Pandemic because when we play we never win that game so that tells me humanity is screwed.

Also paperclips.

Climate change won't kill us all of course but particle accelerators :sadno: you can't trust them.

Also paperclips. In fact I suspect there will be a heavy paperclip involvement in the whole incident which of course will never come out what with the whole apocalypse thing.

I voted for "Anthropogenic Climate Change," but not because I think that's specifically what's going to lead to the collapse of our civilization.

Rather, it's a symptom of the overall problem.

We're racing through our nonrenewable resources at a frightening rate while paying virtually no heed to the consequences on the Earth's ecosystems. We're dumping millions of tons of pollutants into the land, sea and air every year with virtually no thought of the consequences. Species are currently going extinct at a rate that's estimated to be at least 1,000 times the "normal" rate of extinction, and it's almost entirely a consequence of human activities. There have been 5 mass extinction events in the history of the Earth -- we are currently experiencing the 6th, and this time, we can't blame it on asteroid impacts or massive volcanic eruptions. The responsibility rests squarely on our shoulders.

And is being done about all of this? Virtually nothing. What's more, powerful forces are deployed with the goal of preventing any serious attempt to address these issues.

Unless we get our collective act together, our stupidity, greed, and short-sightedness is almost-certainly going to lead to the collapse of our civilization, and possibly to the extinction of our species. (That probably won't happen, though.)

Sometimes, what I find so depressing is not what we're doing to ourselves, but what we're doing to all the other species on Earth. It's not their fault that we're such short-sighted idiots, and they shouldn't have to pay the price.

I chose not to vote because then I would be compelled (of my own free will) to do everything in my power to insure that the thing I voted for came to pass. Honestly, I don't really feel like working that hard to bring about the end of the world.

ACP is most likely going to lead to massive disruption, which may even lead to a loss of complexity in human technology. But if we are asking what would properly end it altogether, then my money is on either a meteor strike or one of the big calderas going off again.

I would go for both.
Given how widespread humans are, I doubt a meteor impact will destroy all of human civilization, although the climate change that occurs after just might. It would be nicely ironic if we could survive the meteor climate change, if not for the human made climate change tipping the scales.

The dinosaurs were already on the way out when the meteor sealed the deal, would be fitting if the exact same happened too us.
