Which bit (perhaps all) are you struggling with:
1. making an image that's the right way up
2. setting it as your avatar at FF?

Part 2 is very easy, if a little hidden: User Tools (at the top of the page) > Edit Options > Edit Avatar (in the left side menu), then in the custom avatar section either load the file you've created (easiest) or provide a url if you've hosted it somewhere like imgur.com.

There are lots of ways to do part 1 depending on what tools you already have - and it's a worthwhile thing to learn.

Ff sometimes rotates pictures, as does my phone. This is because an algorithm determining the direction that the picture is supposed to be. ES could explain how.

I find editing the pictures, rotating 360 degrees and doing a small crop ensures that the picture won’t be rotated.

Digital cameras often save all images horizontal and check a meta data flag if they think you were holding the camera vertical instead, I don’t know how FF handles things but,

If you strip the meta data.

Then rotate the image if needed.
Rotate image online

Everyone should see the same way up.
