Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I've been playing three games of late. The glorious Dragon Quest XI for my Playstation 4 Pro, Shining Resonance Refrain and Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions which I plug away at occasionally. All three games are fun. For those wondering, the first is a JRPG, the second and action RPG and the last is a bullet hell shooter that's a blast to play.

Pulled up Knights of the Old Republic. I had started the game a long time ago, but didn't get far. Played in earnest for a few hours and got through a bit more. It's a good game, but it's definitely a commitment.

The story and the impetus to continue playing really get going after the first planet - and you start collecting Jedi powers and such.

For 15 year old games, KotOR and KotOR2 hold up exceptionally well.

Still grinding Summoners War. Recently built two raid teams, and just invite my friend who also plays to raid with me for the third raid team. Fuck public raids, those people are douchebags.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I'm not playing this game yet, but I'm excited for one coming out next year:
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines: the game with too many subtitles was based on the Vampire: The Masquerade RPG, and it was a weird, interesting game where you can play different bloodline of vampires, with each bloodline having some identifiable trait that made them a different playing experience. The clan you chose affected where you can go and how you can solve the missions. It was buggy as hell and I think I turned on God Mode for the last few levels because I generally sucked at it, but I enjoyed it immensely.
It reminded me a lot of the original DeusEx, which gave you just unique enough experience for each character class that it encouraged replay, and it had a great world and style to it. I'm hoping the new one is in sure hands, because I want this to be good.

I got the original a little over 5 years ago on Steam. Most atmospheric game I've played since Doom and very immersive. Also buggy as crap and quite short. Looking forward to what they do with the sequel.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Imperator Rome, the sequel to Europa Universalis: Rome, is coming out in 11 days. According to the description on Wikipedia:
Quote:
The timeline of the game will start at 450 AUC (304 BC) and will include the period of the establishment of the Roman Empire. The map spans from the Iberian peninsula to India, and features over 7,000 cities. Similarly with previous games from Paradox, all of the nations in the game are playable.
|
The map is the most detailed I've ever seen in a game. Hell it's way more detailed than most history book maps on the Hellenistic Mediterranean. Am definitely going to check this one out when its released

Imperator Rome looks pretty good. Unfortunately I never seem to have the time to really delve into Paradox games. Managed a CK2 playthrough to the end of the timeline exactly once.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Anyone here play any of the Steins:Gate games? They are more like visual novels than real gaming experiences, but oh boy are they good. Some of the use of time travel in fiction I've read or watched in a long time. I would wholly recommend anyone here giving them a try. The games are great on the go in particular.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Was going to get Imperator: Rome when it came out but the reviews have been fairly consistently negative. I don't have the time or money to invest in a game that is less than amazing, so I have forgone I:R until they fix it or mod it.
At least I still have have Summoners War on my phone

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Isn't it expected for paradox games to require at least a couple of patches, if not the first 3 dlc, before they're really decent?

I am still holding out hope for this game, so hopefully a patch or three will make things aright

If anyone here was anticipating the release of Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, have no fear. The game was definitely worth the wait. I've been playing it for the last few days. It feels like a strong spiritual sequel to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Yeah, Bloodstained is really good. I'd be playing it more if I weren't spending every moment of my gaming time in Final Fantasy 14. The new expansion is killer.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Unfortunately, the Switch version appears to be clearly inferior and have some bugs (although I guess the bugs aren't totally limited to the Switch).
I may get it eventually, but I'm content to wait for the bugs to be worked out.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Anyone else tried Untitled Goose Game yet? It's the best selling game at the moment on the Switch (though that's probably partly because it's cheap as Switch games go). It's also available for Windows and Mac.
You play the part of a horrible goose that's terrorising the residents of a sleepy English village. Apparently the name of the game came from an early promo video release when the game was still being developed, but the public liked it.

I have! Got it for my MacBook. I may need to connect a mouse next time I play because the touchpad control is annoying.
It's pretty fun. The challenge comes from the fact that you're a goose, so you can waddle around, honk, flap your wings and pick stuff up with your beak, and that's about it.

I might try it, as I have a Switch.
I just finished the remake of Link's Awakening, which is still a great game.
