U.S. Says 'Extremely Unlikely' Turkey Used Chemical Weapons Against Kurds

With exactly the same amount of evidence as they have for the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian gov't - ZERO THAT IS - the US now concludes that nothing happened.

B’Tselem: Israeli army brutally using Dutch dogs to attack Palestinian civilians – PNN

Palestinian victim sues Dutch supplier of Israeli attack dogs | The Electronic Intifada
Quote:
According to a brief by Liesbeth Zegveld and Lisa Komp, attorneys with human rights law firm Prakken d’Oliveira who are representing Abu Hashem, Israeli soldiers arrived with two canines and unleashed them on the youths.

The dogs chased Abu Hashem and grabbed him in a yard between two houses. In an attack caught on video, the dogs bit him multiple times in his legs, arms and shoulder.

“These camera images show that Israeli soldiers initially stood by taunting Hamzeh while watching the dogs bite him and hearing him scream in agony,” the brief states.

The video is at the top of this article.
Liesbeth Zegveld is a human rights attorney who has sued commander Karremans of Dutchbat who failed to defend Srebrenica.

Boing Boing puts up a blog post linking to a bunch of illegal centerfold images. Playboy sues when Boing Boing refuses to take the link down:

Playboy says linking to Playmate archive violates copyright; judge says no way | Ars Technica

Quote:
A federal judge in Los Angeles has dismissed a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against Happy Mutants, the parent company of the popular website Boing Boing.

Back in November 2017, Playboy Entertainment Group sued Boing Boing, accusing it of violating the company’s copyright when, in February 2016, the website simply linked to a separate online collection of "Every Playboy Playmate Centerfold Ever." That portfolio, which was hosted on Imgur, has since been removed. Imgur did not immediately respond to Ars’ request for comment.

Because Boing Boing has advertising on its site, Playboy argued, it is profiting from those unauthorized images
While I think the lawsuit might not have merit - it's not illegal to link to things. However, in its response, I kinda agree with Playboy:

Cyrus Farivar on Twitter: "Today, @Playboy responded in a statement to my @arstechnica story from 12 days ago, involving the lawsuit with @BoingBoing, which was represented by @EFF.

@Playboy will “not refile an amended complaint at this time,†vows to “enforce†its IP.

See: https://t.co/q9u76bvWu1… https://t.co/szSTCvy15l"

Quote:
That is not editorial integrity. It is not ethical journalism. It is supporting and contributing to piracy and content creators should not tolerate it.
I think Boing Boing was in the wrong here, morally if not legally.

I know, I know.

I still think Boing Boing did something morally questionable by linking to another site where someone else archived copyrighted content. I agree with Playboy's argument, even if Playboy itself is morally questionable.

I recently learned (through a blog post) that an artist I follow was going to be featured in this month's Playboy. I'm still on the fence about buying the issue. Buying the magazine technically supports an artist I enjoy in a way that might further their career, but spending money on Playboy is spending money on Playboy - I'd rather give money to their Patreon.

"Who's going to fight and die for us when we're not a reliable ally?" David L. Phillips, director of the Program on Peace-building and Rights at Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights, told Newsweek.

"They turned to Assad, who's no friend of the Kurds, but we gave them no choice," Phillips added. "Make no mistake, the Free Syrian Army is a jihadist force. They mutilate the bodies of Kurdish fighters. The idea that we'd see the Free Syrian Army as anything but a terror army is ludicrous."

I just want everyone to know that I fell for CNN's clickbait and misunderstood the 'their' in this headline so I thought that people were sleeping in the offices of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus, so when they came in, there'd be sweaty white guys camped out on their couches:
