Alfred Wright was found dead in Sabine County, Texas after he went missing 18 days prior. He was found by his father and volunteers 25 yards from where his vehicle was found. The police called off the search after three days.
The story occurred in June 2013 but apparently is just now being reported.

Note to self: do not answer the door with a video game controller in hand. Actually, it's probably not a good idea to have anything in hand.

6 SF cops charged with illegal raids and shake downs. The incidents in question happened 4 years ago, and resulted in multiple drug charges being dropped after footage surfaced of them using a master key to illegally enter rooms and arrest residents (they knew the surveillance cameras were there, but only bothered to cover them some of the time) 5 of the 6 officers remained on the force till today.

Lieutenant Anthony Green, however, was willing to give his take on New Iberia's response to the shooting, stating, “The community is not really up in arms about this. I don't sense any large unrest.”
Jesus fucking christ, as if that is the important thing that really matters. Seriously, that is soooo fucked up.

Oh the irony. Your article on censored libraries is blocked by my library's filter. Correction: It's the other one that's banned. Still annoying but not so ironic.

It's depressing how common stories like this are lately. I don't think this can be emphasised enough: Don't call the cops unless there is literally no other option.

Bryon Vassey, the Southport Police Department officer who shot and killed a mentally ill teen in early January, was indicted Monday on one count of voluntary manslaughter by a Brunswick County grand jury, District Attorney Jon David confirmed.
The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation immediately began an inquest into Vidal's death, a probe that has evidently been completed.
Vassey, a nine-year veteran of the Southport Police Department, had no prior disciplinary actions taken against him, according to Southport Police Chief Jerry Dove.
The officer has been on paid administrative leave since the incident, and Dove has said he would wait for the completion of the SBI investigation to decide his status with the department.
The other two officers who were at Vidal's home have both been cleared of wrongdoing in the incident by internal investigations and were almost immediately cleared to return to work. That verdict was affirmed by the SBI investigation, which also upheld their conduct.
Not sure if true or not, but certainly believable, and funny regardless.

Trigger warning for just about every kind of horrific violence people can inflict on each other including... (seriously, I'm spoilering this because it's so grotesque)
...effectively boiling a prisoner alive by locking him in a shower with broken valves, so that he couldn't turn the water off himself, and subjecting him to jets of water heated up to 160¯¯°F for over an hour while he screamed for mercy. Jesus fucking Christ.
“Subsequently, detention officers escorted Plaintiff to the 'cage' and she was given a mat to lay on. Shortly thereafter, Plaintiff’s pain worsened, and she began to experience intense pressure ... in obvious distress, began to moan, scream and cry,” the suit claims. “She also attempted to talk herself through this ordeal, since she was not receiving any medical assistance.”
The lawsuit claims Anderson told Guerrero she contacted her doctor, and told her the doctor said she was fine. Anderson ignored Guerrero’s screams for help at 5 a.m. when the nurse was walking by the solitary cell, the suit claims.
The lawsuit alleges Guerrero felt herself and could feel the baby’s head starting to emerge and a detention officer walking by her cell helped her deliver her daughter, who was “dark purple, and had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.”
And to show up clearly how the pigs didn't bother to do any investigation of the inhabitants of the house, the suspect they were meant to be arresting wasn't even in the house at the time.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first case of a person injured in a flashbang-caused fire, and some have even died in blazes caused by these so-called 'nonlethal' weapons. In this case, this man also wasn't the person the pigs were ostensibly seeking, and the high settlement is partly due to the fact that they knew that their shooting suspect wasn't in the house, but let off the flashbangs because this other guy had a couple warrants related to two old misdemeanor charges.

Also, my local police department is up to dodgy shit. Admittedly not as bad as some of these other stories but illegal blanket surveillance is still deplorable.
