Gun politics in Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
The 1938 German Weapons Act
The 1938 German Weapons Act, the precursor of the current weapons law, superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." Under the new law:
Gun restriction laws applied only to handguns, not to long guns or ammunition. Writes Prof. Bernard Harcourt of the University of Chicago, "The 1938 revisions completely deregulated the acquisition and transfer of rifles and shotguns, as well as ammunition."[4]
The groups of people who were exempt from the acquisition permit requirement expanded. Holders of annual hunting permits, government workers, and NSDAP party members were no longer subject to gun ownership restrictions. Prior to the 1938 law, only officials of the central government, the states, and employees of the German Reichsbahn Railways were exempted.[5]
The age at which persons could own guns was lowered from 20 to 18.[5]
The firearms carry permit was valid for three years instead of one year.[5]
Jews were forbidden from the manufacturing or ownership of firearms and ammunition.[6]
Under both the 1928 and 1938 acts, gun manufacturers and dealers were required to maintain records with information about who purchased guns and the guns' serial numbers. These records were to be delivered to a police authority for inspection at the end of each year.
On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, passed Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.

Re: Zimmerman to be charged
Gun control laws in America were used to keep blacks from having the ability to protect themselves.

Yeah, because the Nazis totally lacked the firepower to go in and take their guns by force. They wiped out the Danish army in one fucking day.

Re: Zimmerman to be charged
Another unarmed person shot under a 'Stand your ground' law because some fucking idiot thought 'his life was in danger' and apparently just happened to have a pistol in his lap while driving:
Quote:
According to the police report, Jude was in his car with his girlfriend placing an order at Taco Bell, and was told to drive to the front window to pick up the order. As he pulled away from the drive-through, he nearly ran over Adkins – Jude said he had to step on the brakes – as he was walking his dog.
Adkins cursed loudly at Jude and approached the passenger window of his car. Jude and his girlfriend said they then saw Adkins swinging something that resembled a bat. At that point, said Jude, he shot Adkins with a pistol that he had on his lap, then called 911.
Jude told the police he was not aware that the shot to Adkins was fatal. Responding to the 911 call, police discovered Adkins lying on the asphalt, his right hand still clutching his dog’s leash.

Oh and in this case even the Teahadists wil prolly agree he's guilty because the killer is black:
Quote:
Daniel’s father doesn’t think race played a role in the shooting. Jude is African-American and Adkins is Hispanic. Still, he doesn’t understand why his son’s case didn’t raise the uproar that Martin’s did in Florida.

I hear this complaint a lot from wingnutters. What they apparently forget is that the outrage wasn't merely because Trayvon Martin was shot, but because the law enforcement officials let the shooter go, without even bothering to charge him.
This wasn't a case of not being able to find the shooter. The police found Zimmerman without any difficulty. But even after hearing the events - and with a 9/11 operator call recording to confirm that Zimmerman was the aggressor - they decided to let him go.
People get shot all the time. The expectation of law enforcement and government is that they will actually do something about it.

Raul Rodriguez found guilty of murder in the Texas case.
Quote:
"Raul Rodriguez is a neighborhood bully who had a CHL, an arsenal of weapons and a knowledge of the law," said Logan. "He felt he had the ultimate control, the control to decide who lives and who dies."
The jury sided with the prosecutors and voted to convict Rodriguez of murder. Sentencing will take place following additional testimony.

But if they know that everyone else driving on the roadway is armed just like they are, they'll be less likely to randomly shoot anyone. An armed society is a polite society.

Re: Zimmerman to be charged
Here's an interesting one:
Quote:
Hiram Lewis, a lawyer and a failed servant of the American people (he lost the 2006 West Virginia Senate race to Robert Byrd, and also lost two Attorney General elections), has been arrested for shooting a guy who apparently “intruded” upon him in his home. West Virginia has that lovely Castle Doctrine in effect, so Lewis, who also used to work as a Republican treasurer, is claiming that he was just Standing His Ground. The catch: the so-called intruder, Stephen Bogart, claims that he actually lives in the house in too. This is a LANDMARK CASE, because can you stand yr ground if it is also another’s ground???
In an apostatical fit, maybe, Lewis decided to drop his friend/lover/neighbor/roommate, and having washed his hands of the whole affair, was forced to shoot Bogart (in the leg) when Bogart insisted he was still part of his life. OTHER THEORIES? There are none.
OK fine, there is another. According to Lewis, via local Fox station WCHS, Bogart:
is a homeless veteran who’s been a guest at his camp for the last week until he finds stable employment. Lewis did not elaborate further except to say, “he went crazy today.”

Wow what a slimey city. He tried to resign and they refused. Just so they could fire him a couple months later.
It's almost like politicians are jumping off the sinking Zimmerman, heroic defender boat now that it turns out someone patrolling his turf is turning out to be a racist thug.

Re: Zimmerman to be charged
Quote:
A day after killing Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman passed a police lie detector test when asked if he confronted the teenager and whether he feared for his life “when you shot the guy,” according to documents released today by Florida prosecutors.
According to a “confidential report” prepared by the Sanford Police Department, Zimmerman, 28, willingly submitted to a computer voice stress analyzer (CVSA) “truth verification” on February 27. Investigators concluded that he “has told substantially the complete truth in regards to this examination.”
Zimmerman, the report noted, “was classified as No Deception Indicated (NDI).”
Along with questions about whether his first name was George and if it was Monday, Zimmerman was asked,
“Did you confront the guy you shot?’ He answered, “No.”
“Were you in fear for your life, when you shot the guy.” Zimmerman replied, “Yes.”
Before the CVSA test, Zimmerman--who was apparently not accompanied by legal counsel--signed a Sanford Police Department release stating that he was undergoing the examination “voluntarily, without duress, coercion, threat or promise.”
The lie detector test was requested by Chris Serino, a homicide investigator with the Sanford Police Department.

Re: Zimmerman to be charged
Good thing 'Lie detectors' are considered 100% accurate and allowed in court.
Oh wait.
I certainly think Zimmerman believes he did not "confront" and that he was "in fear of his life" but that doesn't make his actions anymore right or legal. Although based on what he told the police after the incident it's pretty obvious he had danger and shooting on his mind as his first assumption was that the kid was reaching for Zimmerman's own gun, so he got to it first and fired. Too bad we can't hook Martin up to a lie detector to see if he even knew Zimmerman had a gun, let alone was trying to grab it.
