Default trick question (geography)

My favorite trick question in geography is this:

If you go due south from Detroit, Michigan, what is the first foreign country you will encounter?

Another one. If it's 5 PM in Tampa, Florida, what time is it in the capiltal city of Panama?

The answer to the first question is:

I can't think of any trick questions right now.....

Windsor is further north than Crescent City.

But which is the more northern: Halifax, NS, or Portland, OR?

How about Portland, OR, and Portland, ME...which is more northern?

What's the most western point in the continental U.S.?

This has been an interesting thread.

Another trick question. If you are going through the Panama Canal from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Mexico, actually), what general compass heading are you going?

My guess was basically right, but I was picturing it quite differently. Very cool question and links, xoup.

Yet another "which is farther north" question: Moscow (Russia), or Edmonton (Canada)?

Wow. I had no idea about the "political" time zones. Cool.

Yeah, and China has one time zone from the Yalu River to Kashi....but they still keep local time, Kashi being three hours behind Beijing.

I think Labrador is one half hour ahead of Nova Scotia.
