Thanks ELGS!

For some reason I care surprisingly little about atheist awareness in America :) (crusading foreign policy aside). Do you have any connections to atheist or related organisations in South Africa? Anywhere in sub-Saharan Africa?

Joe

Not many connections, but I do have some information.

The Nigerian Humanist Movement is part of the Atheist Alliance International but no other groups from the African continent are members.

Others that I was able to find are:

Humanist and Ethical Union of Kenya

Humanist Friendship Association (Uganda)

Humanist Friendship Centre (Nigeria)

Rational Centre (Ghana)

Uganda Humanist Association

You may want to look at the Atheists Meetup to see if there is anyone near you seeking social interaction with other atheists.

I think it would be an interesting topic, although I am not an atheist, I certainly am interested in reading the news about it.

Uganda - Nigeria - Kenya - Ghana

I'm still 3000km away from humanism, then. :)

All you have to do to join the Nigerian association is wire them $1000 and then meet them in an airport in Norway to pick up your lack of faith... ;)

Isn't there plenty of nonbelievers who start up their own -ah- businesses to raise money for what they need? You could always do that.

Secular activists almost always represent my views on religious issues, and secular activism is a fun read. However, I haven't experienced much inconvenience for being a lifelong nontheist, outside of having to attend services as a kid.
