Default .gifv?

Deer leet FF hakerz,

Is there a way we can add this to the list of formats that the insert image [from link] recognizes?

Hmm... I know how to do it with attachments, but I don't know if there's a way to alter the img embed file types. Please hold. Your call is important to us.

I couldn't figure it out, curses, so I added gifv to the attachment file types instead. I know it's not the smoothest solution as it adds a few steps, but you can still embed them using the address generated by the upload. Will that do?

gifv is actually webm and mp4 video format and plays via an swf player.

I've used the following bbcode to make it work on certain phpBB forums but have yet to make it resize dynamically for smaller screen sizes. Imgur's implementation also includes some Javascript which I did not bother with.

Code:
[gifv]{SIMPLETEXT1}://i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.gifv[/gifv]
Replacement:

Code:
<div style="width:100%; max-width:100%"><video poster="//i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.jpg" preload="auto" autoplay="autoplay" muted="muted" loop="loop" webkit-playsinline="" style="width: 916px; height: 390px;">
                <source src="//i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.webm" type="video/webm">
                <source src="//i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.mp4" type="video/mp4">

                <object style="width: 100%" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="//s.imgur.com/include/flash/gifplayer.swf?imgur_video={SIMPLETEXT1}://i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.mp4&amp;imgur_width=100%&amp;imgur_url=">
                    <param name="movie" value="//s.imgur.com/include/flash/gifplayer.swf?imgur_video={SIMPLETEXT1}://i.imgur.com/{SIMPLETEXT2}.mp4&amp;imgur_width=100%">
                    <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="never">
                    <param name="flashvars" value="width=100%">
                    <param name="width" value="100%">
                    <param name="version" value="0">
                    <param name="scale" value="scale">
                    <param name="salign" value="tl">
                    <param name="wmode" value="opaque">
                </object>
            </video></div>

Trying Pyrrho's code here!

If it's working for you, you should be able to right-click on the animation and alter the play speed (slow motion, etc.) or size and you could switch the sound on, except that there isn't any for this clip.

It works on my Android tablet too (which of course doesn't have Flash) so that's encouraging. I'm not sure if there is an equivalent of 'right-clicking' on Android - if so I didn't stumble across it - but the video plays which is the main thing.

I suppose we could try to integrate the code into a {gifv} {/gifv} tag, if there's a demand for it, and the admins are willing to tinker... Probably best to do nothing for a while though to make sure that this thread doesn't get reported for 'crashing my browser' or 'locking up my phone' or similar.
