As far as the pie goes, the Earth can easily provide enough pie resources that everyone could have all the oie they wanted. All that would be necessary would be the logistics and the political will to resist the inevitable pushback from the immensely powerful pie-haters lobby.

I will have you know that when I fight movie nerds who say that the 21st century is a fillum wasteland, I take them on and win every danged time because some of the best directors, and many of the most promising, are working today, and some of them are tiny little newborn babies.

I do like a lot of older movies, but the main reason I kept Fandor after Filmstruck debuted is that they were curating collections of new movies and up and coming directors that haven't been around long enough for Criterion to notice them.

But anyways, re: my streaming service, I have long had this kind of running thing in my head and a little bit on my computer where I do a 'choose your own adventure' sort of hypertext perpetual movie marathon. So any given movie you could move on to one of two or three other movies that share some sort of common thread. Usually not something super-obvious, but a commonality that flows from one to the next. I wouldn't be specific about WHAT the commonalities were, but it'd give you maybe three options and each would take you in a different direction, depending on the thing they had in common, and then you'd move on from that one and you'd have the same choice, and so on.

And I even started putting it into Twine, but it's like, "Who would ever even look at this besides me and MAYBE my brother?" (just the one brother at that) so I really only did like a page of those.

But if I had a streaming site, that's what it'd be like. Also, it would be 100% illegal.

The Cinema Sins guys are always going on about a service called Mubi. I don't know if that would be something you could get into.

I have thought about Mubi, and they do have a lot of the movies I like, but I don't think their setup would work for me. They only have 30 movies at a time, so sometimes, I've seen half of them already. Plus I'm kind of fickle. Lots of times, I want to watch something, but I'm not in the mood for it right now. It just seems like it'd be stressful having everything ready to expire like that.
