There's usually a considerably steeper tilt to that floating dock:
We had a larger than usual snowfall on the mountains over the winter. That's the Fraser River right now. Tides affect it at this dock.

Tributary river of the above. That's usually an oxbow and the deck below is usually above water.

Re: What's up with you?
It is official, we're moving to a small town in Kansas, where we will be raising Superman. Soup, as we call him, has been working out on free weights and weighs only 30 pounds less than I do. He is about 4 inches shorter than me though. I think I could take him if I had to, at least that's what I tell him, old man strength and all, that and treachery.

Re: What's up with you?
So my brother and I were making falafel (actually "black eyed pea fritters") today, and Mabel came over for dinner, and these three things (my brother, the falafel, and Mabel) got the dogs super excited, so they were having a very rambunctious play fight in the living room, and I looked over and saw they were tossing around a knife. A very sharp knife. I had to get it away from them, but they were all being punks, so they were playing keepaway with me with it so what's up with me is pit bull knife fights.

I saw our Soup running on the treadmill at speeds that must be superpowered yesterday. I think he was generating electrical power instead of using it. And that's why my electric bill was $10 lower than last month.
Edit: Of course, our grocery bill was a hundred dollars higher, so there's that.

Re: What's up with you?
The vast majority of bands I see fall within the 0-1 hit records range. Not so with the Alan Parsons Project, who my concert buddy from work and I saw last Saturday. They had a ton of hits in the late 70s - mid 80s.
The show was loads of fun, and I ended up very happy that we went. A kind of lulzy aspect was the fact that the band is large (two guitarists, two multi-instrumentalists, singer, bass, keyboards and drums) yet at various stages they brought two roadies on stage to play. Seriously. Before the show we saw these dudes sound-checking guitars, taping down setlists and doing other roadie stuff. When the show started, one guy came out and performed a mind blowingly spectacular electric cello solo and the other guy played violin on 4 or so songs.
Anyhoo, here's a crappy cellphone vid taken by a guy who was right up front:

I worked from 6:00 AM (couldn't sleep anyway) until 5:00 PM on removing all the disgusting mold-infused and dog urine contaminated carpet and pad from the house we bought in Smallville, Kansas.

Re: What's up with you?
Shocking, ain't it?
In that regard, Parsons should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for hiring Clare Torry to do the vocal on Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in the Sky. That should be enough all by itself.

Re: What's up with you?
I took a vacation to visit my ancestral homestead in Minnesota. I scheduled 3 days to drive from the Seattle area to Northern MN, a long weekend at the cabin, and 3 days to drive back.
The haze from wildfires was heavy through most of Montana and North Dakota, so I was not able to do as much of what I planned - which was take stock of what might be good places for pictures on the way there, and stop and take pictures on the way back.
Not that I didn't take pictures:

Yeah, I find myself fascinated with the "miniature" effect of the lens I bought. I like the change in perspective.

Just a tilt, if I remember the terminology correctly - The lens is a Lensbaby Edge 50 like this: Composer Pro II w/ Edge 50 Optic | Lens | Lensbaby
Ofttimes I have more money than sense - this was probably one of those times, but it's something I have a ton of fun with.

Re: What's up with you?
Oow, considering the price I've seen in the past for full tilt shifts, that not only seems like a deal but based on the photos you posted gives nice results.
(Eta: for those wondering, tilt and shift are about how the image hits the flat sensor plane and both were easy and an artifact of large format bellows cameras but much more complicated when adding fancy technology. In simple, Tilt is how the focal point hits the plane whereas shift is how perspective hits the plane. Shift is commonish in large scale architectural and engineering photos, making a square building appear truely square in the image even when shot from bellow, instead of converging and appearing to shrink as it gets higher.)
Eta2: I hope you post more of it.

Re: What's up with you?
In the past couple years I've taken two acting classes, one singing lesson, ~2 months of guitar and pilates lessons (respectively, not together), a woodshop class (got a beautiful cutting board out of that) and ... I think that's about it for 'electives'. So far nothing has grabbed me by the collar and said "this you must do for life!"

Re: What's up with you?
1. Hi it's been a while! Buckle up.
2. A year ago I quit my job as head baker at the bakery I had worked at for 15 years. I'll save the dissection for some other time but extreme dissatisfaction would be an accurate summation.
3. I turned down a management position offer from another bakery and instead took an hourly baking gig working for a massive French multinational that has a small unit doing food service for a Lutheran university 15 blocks from our house; a 15-minute walk or 5-minute bike ride.
4. Leaving my former job meant health care issues: our son's ABA therapy for his autism was through Kaiser; my new job did not have Kaiser; the ABA therapy company doesn't accept other insurers. Qingdai bravely navigated the mind-melting process of figuring out how to proceed in a way that didn't compromise the ABA therapy.
5. Leaving my former job meant I went from $74K annual to around $29K; that meant we had to reappraise how we were going to support ourselves; Qingdai increased her work levels to compensate.
6. Leaving my former job ramped up my issues with depression; I was (and am) still, a year later, processing. This spring was extremely rough; I came as close to suicide as I have been since being shot by the police after a bank robbery in '97 (I think pulling a handgun on a policeman and my other plans regarding confrontation at the time qualifies as attempted suicide by cop). I have sought out help and am in a better space now, though more help with my anger and depression is being sought out.
7. I reorganized and upgraded the attached garage space this spring so that we could host D&D tabletop games for our teenage autistic son and his friends/ classmates from his autism-focused classroom at school. Shadow (our son's nom-de-ff) and I wrote, illustrated, (and are still finishing) a D&D module; most every Saturday we have a 3-hour game where I DM a bunch of 13-year old awesome teens.
8. When our state legalized marijuana, I started smoking it again- daily- and this last weekend I decided to take a year off and reassess.
9. I've struggled with feeling isolated and lonely- partly an aspect of the job I perform currently (the position is relatively independent from the rest of kitchen operations, and I spend most of my shift working by myself in a corner of the kitchen); among other efforts to re-socialize and not further descend into isolation I'm gonna reach out to ff a little more. Maybe listen to podcasts by myself a little less.
10. Thanks for existing, ff!
