Default IRON CHEF: Ameruhcuh vs Everyone Else

A suggestion from this thread: let's make a American/Everyone Else reference guide for all us trans-continental foodies out there.

For example: auburgine = eggplant

Go to it, folks! I'll eventually compile the list alphabetically and post it as an article :)

raisin = raisin
sultana = raisin
currant = raisin

(ok, so we'd add descriptors, so it would be golden raisin, not just raisin for sultana)

bazzle = basil :P

Dried currants are raisins (made from Zante grapes). Fresh currants are a kind of gooseberry (something else entirely!). :yup:

Slight nitpick: Coriander is dried cilantro. Changes the taste quite a bit. Fresh cilantro is ... cilantro.

(But let's not turn this into another cilantro hate thread, okay? Stop the madness!)

Yeah but, even though I hate it, I do have coriander growing in a pot in my garden.

pudding = some kinds of sausage (blood pudding), some pastry like dishes (Yorkshire pudding), baked French toast (bread and butter pudding), various solid desserts (plum pudding, spotted dick), oh, and of course, pudding

(American) biscuits = scones, according to some people. But those people are wrong. What do you call American style biscuits anyway? Do you just call them American biscuits?

Cuz scones, biscuits and cookies are three different things over here in America.
