The rumor I heard, which I'm pretty sure will push up gasoline prices locally, is of a fire that damaged and closed a refinery in Richmond, California.
I'm at a loss as to why rumors of the Syrian president's death would affect commodity prices, particularly in oil. Syria is not particularly known as a major source of crude. Or even a transit site for pipelines. Is it?

It has a bit of oil, but not that much. Not a member of OPEC I think. But that just adds to the stupid...
