Considering that all the music mags, blogs and charts are telling me how great this is, the best album of the year etc., I am amazed that I actually like it :D

All the musicians are polio patients, like Israel Vibration but from DR Congo.

Been on a Floyd kick for a lot of the day; other stuff I've listened to has been Remain in Light (Talking Heads), Peter Gabriel 3, and maudlin of the Well's two 2001 albums. Currently starting a Reverend Bizarre binge but I don't think I'm going to make it past their first album; I'm starting to fade.

and So is a great album, though I still maintain that his third is his best. Then again I haven't listened to So in a few years; age and perspective may end up changing my mind.
I've got a copy of Adventure now, I can hear a much more pronounced glam influence in this one than in Marquee Moon. Still a solid album, though.

And I'll bite, what are your top 3 Peter Gabriel Albums? So is my second favorite behind Us and before the third album.
Probably 3, then So/1 at a tie. I honestly haven't listened as extensively to a lot of his solo stuff as I have to his stuff with Genesis though.

As for me, currently the new maudlin of the Well, which is amazing, especially the final track. I've also been listening to a ton of avant-prog and Rock in Opposition lately - Henry Cow, Present, Van der Graaf Generator, Univers Zero, Magma, Yugen, etc.

When Do I Get to Sing "My Way" is such a Pet Shop Boys rip but it's great.

The funny part is most of the album is this quiet, moody, lullaby-ish affair. It took me several listens to figure out why the advisory is there. Apparently, one "fuck" gets you a warning label.

I've really been into Linton Kwesi Johnson of late. I think the track More Time is a significant piece of music.

LKJ is really good, I have 3 or 4 albums, but that track doesn't ring a bell.

Currently playing The Beat (aka The English Beat) - I just can't stop it.

Its from the album More Time. If you're already a fan then you will enjoy.

Mission of Burma, Vs.

First listen, though I'm certain I heard the band in the 80's in the crowd I ran with back then.

Joe Higgs - Life of Contradiction

It's reggae but not as we know it. Jamaican folk some say.

Joe Higgs was also a music teacher who gave singing lessons to The Wailers (Bob) and The Wailing Souls among others.
