That auto-translation is the absolute crappe.

Runokuu can mean poetry moon, or, more likely, Poetry Month (though false advertising if it lasts a week). There are no runes mentioned in the original.

Also, "Young Power Union", WTF? Sounds like an anti-elderly militant activist group rather than a pro-literature club.

It is a pretty common crochet design that people like making here to give to hospitals that have preemie wards, as the thin tentacles are apparently perfect for teeny babies to grab on to safely.

So what exactly was your cubicle-neighbour saying about your hands?

I have always wanted to start a manual transmission car by rolling it downhill and putting it into gear. I did it today. It was awesome.

:tealdeer:
Mrs. Reasons' car is in the shop. It's not a normally a problem, because we have 3 cars, but my son has marching band tomorrow. We can fit the big bass drum in my manual transmission car (a Hyundai Veloster), but it's not fun. Normally we drive the 3rd car (a Subaru Forester) to band but Mrs. Reasons hasn't driven a manual transmission in decades...

...so we took the car out tonight so she could practice, to see if she could drive my car to work. The hills in our neighborhood defeated her and she wound up stalling the car several times. She stalled out on an uphill, and that was one too many times. The battery didn't have enough juice to start again.

Luckily, we were on a quiet street that ended in a cul-de-sac. We turned the car around with some difficulty - and then I got to cross this off my bucket list.

Also, I'm going to stuff a big bass drum in the back of my Veloster tomorrow.

We used to take my son and his Sousaphone out car-shopping to make sure that the Sousaphone would fit.

I have a Halloween costume picked out, and I'm super happy about it. This may also be practical conference costume. I'll be surprised if anyone gets it - this is 100% for me.

The only question that remains: To get the full effect, I would need to shave my beard, is it worth it?

Or just sculpt it into a goatee and be the Mirror Universe Nimoy, who did the same song, but in a minor key.

This is only petty cuz it's someone else's accomplishment. Otherwise I think it's pretty neat!

My mommy is the new cover model for Rangers Pointing at Things on facebook.

I ordered buttons from Etsy which have "Hobbits Unite!" "What's a Leonard Nimoy?" and "Admit Middle-Earth to the U.N." but I didn't look at the size. They're tiny - like 1/2 the diameter of the button on Nimoy's shirt. (It's the wrong color, too, but I knew that when I ordered it.)

:fuming: at myself.

I don't rock the outfit like 1968 Leonard Nimoy, but I think I got the right idea.

I used my influence as the volunteer editor-in-chief of a professional publication to adopt the singular "they" as part of our style guide.

I made it through driving to Minnesota, putting my baby Brother into Hospice seeing him on his way, and getting his funeral arrangements done, and driving home without drinking a drop.

I took care of an OMG RUSH HELP US PLEASE contract review. Go/No-go decision (it was go), plus a full breakdown of the lesser concerns, 48-page document, 30 minutes.

I would rather have been a rock star, but being the God of Contracts will have to do.
