what i care about and i think stated or hinted at is that i don't like people who think saying happy holidays should replace merry christmas and the posts people make on various social media expressing how much more enlightened they are for choosing HH over MC.

but you can feel free to say it. i'm just saying be honest about why you are.

"Happy Holidays" is all-purpose and doesn't presume any particular religious affiliation or celebration. I usually attempt to tell people "Happy holidays" when I don't know what religion they are, or I'm wishing them well for the whole holiday season.

But, I'm also not disinclined to say, "Merry Christmas" to anyone, especially if that's why we are just about to get time off of work for.

I rarely say "Seasons Greetings," that always seems better written.

In general, only the most uptight people actually care what you say - most people understand the sentiment, and don't think much else about it.

In most every day interaction I view "Happy Holidays" as the equivalent of, "I acknowledge you human and wish your journeys well during the days of longer darkness, where the sun goes we know not where! Now please finish this transaction without going crazy so I can get along with my day."

As mentioned, if you happen to be European or from the cold areas there tends to be a lot of celebrations about surviving the cold and praying to one's god. Perhaps it's the way you preach that puts them off, and makes them think that you aren't really a Christian? Quit listening to the voices in your head, and start reading the scriptures.

God, you people in the colonies have problems! Man oh man. Everybody over here says Happy Holidays (in their respective language) because of convenience. It's just simpler. And we don't even have Thanksgiving.

You can hear Merry Christmas sometimes on Christmas day but that's it.
