Teeth Whitening

I've been using the professional teeth whitening thing I got from my dentist, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've worn it for either six or nine hours now, spread over two or three days, and I can't tell any change whatsoever.

It's not exactly pleasant to wear, mouth fills up with thick, foamy spit all the time, and you can't swallow it.

Any suggestions? I'm trying to get them whiter for a date I'll be having in a couple of weeks.

The whitening doesn't happen while you're wearing the trays. You wear the trays to allow the carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide solution penetrates the enamel and the dentin. The bleaching action works from the inside out over a period of days or weeks.

I first used it a week before this past Monday. Isn't that long enough to do something, working from the inside?

Your teeth may have gotten a couple of shades lighter without you noticing. It's one of those incremental changes that isn't always obvious. Heavy stains or discoloration can take several treatments over a period of months. Are you using the trays as often as instructed?

You could always get a set of caps for your teeth, if you think it's that big a deal.

You could get a grill and wear that on your date. Ladies are always impressed by a shiny grill.

Great.

I don't remember them specifying a specific regime, just use it for at least a couple of hours whenever I do.

Yeah, the solution should come with instructions on when, how often, and how long to wear the trays.
