My dad's first car a Standard 10. I remember the (very long) trips to a static caravan in Weymouth in this car - back before most of the M5 motorway was built. I drove it as a kid, but only around fields and car parks.

Then he got a Vauxhall Victor. I used to put this in and out of the garage for him, but I was still too young for a licence.

Then he got a Volkswagen Variant. I passed my driving test in this.

He also had a VW camper for a while, which I used to borrow to go model flying when I wanted to stay away for a few days.

His was like this one but the paint was white plus roughly the same orange as the Variant, and the tilting roof was red and white striped.

Studebaker made some great cars. Very innovative and forward thinking. I think the company was probably killed by bad management. Also, I never understood the popularity of the Lark models. The Hawks were awesome.

If you want to talk about concept cars, what about the Volvo ReCharge?

My first car was a 1955 Pontiac Chieftan, 287 V8, 4-speed Hydramatic transmission. It was nearly as rusted out as this one. But hey, it was only $95.

Not even a year later, I bought a 1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom, 215 inline-six, two-speed automatic, a gutless wonder, a $325 car that had cold air conditioning and power steering.
